    Re: The War for Cybertron

Oh the classic bug Bumblebee was AAAAAAAAAAAWESOME in that video!!

Ya I have to watch the videos for some Transformer toys. My grandson loves Transformers and one Christmas his mother told the entire family this so a lot of toys came into the house (they were living with me at the time). Well by the end of Christmas day, most of those Transformers were in pieces. I was so friggin angry, not at my grandsons but at people that don't take the time to see if the toy is appropriate for that age of child. So I look at the age suggestion but for some I also look for videos because not all kids fall into the age suggestion guideline.

Classics BB is an awesome little guy, one of my favorites from the classics line and easily my favorite version of Bumblebee

As for toys for tots, with the movie toys, they made Transformers especially for super young kids, from simple pull back and roll transforming toys to simplistic transforming versions of movie bots that can take a lot of abuse. Mainly because the 'main line' movie figures are freaking insane to Transform half the time.

Transformers toys more or less make up 75% of my collection, mainly because they keep coming out with awesomer versions of stuff that I have no choice but to buy

lol /comfort I know that feeling Ziero!

Ya I got those rolling ones for my grandkids but I did make the mistake of getting carried away by the cool factor. I did pick him up a couple level 2s and I think even a level 3.... but I think it was more because Gramma wanted to play with them. Of course, I was soon mad at myself because a 6 yr old just doesn't have the patience for that and he was soon breaking pieces off in his attempt to transform them.

          Re: The War for Cybertron

Well most TFs these days are designed to fall apart before any actual damage is done. It makes them appear more flimsy, but at least they can be put back together.

Though I wouldn't go by the little difficulty number rating they use, because as any TF collector knows, that system is complete bubkis. It's more about knowing which lines are more kid friendly then others, and for the younger ones Fast Action Battlers and Activators are the best ones you can get.

Also, and I recommend getting this guy to anyone who has even a passing inkling to Transformers, find and pick up Ejector. One of the greatest Transformers toys ever. And giving him a Courage stat of 10 always makes me rofl.

Ya the ratings are bs, I thought he'd be able to handle them...silly me. Some of the transformers I was able to rescue but some did actually break. A pissed off 6 yr old can be quick vicious!

Oh that one looks awesome! I will have to pick up the classic Bumblebee and Ejector. I already told hubby about the Bumblebee and got the classic response....he rolled his eyes! lol

There's supposedly a MP Demo for this game up on XBL. I'm hoping the PSN gets the demo tuesday as well, because exclusive demos of MP games piss me right the hell off.

I read a couple of reviews yesterday and they only talked about being able to play against others and playing co-op. Is there a single player campaign? I like playing with other people, but generally speaking I prefer single player. A. I am not very good at most games, especially "shooters". B. I am not that competitive.

                    Re: The War for Cybertron

The single player and Co-Op campaigns are the same campaign. In campaign mode you will always have a squad of 3 bots, if you want to go solo those bots will be controlled by AIs. But at any time in your playing, you can have one or two friends jump in to take control of the bots in your squad.

It's similar to RE5's gameplay where you'll always have back up, but that backup can be either AI or PC controlled.

                      Re: The War for Cybertron

So apparently this game has broken street date as people are already buying and playing it. I haven't gotten it myself yet (I pre-ordered it at best buy and they won't ship till next week) I was able to find out some small pieces of good news:

First off, there are no visible differences between the Xbox and PS3 versions. So we're not going to see the same thing we saw happen with Bayonetta/Ghostbusters/RDR here. If you had both systems and weren't sure which one to buy it for well..I guess this news wasn't all that helpful to you. But if you had a preference of one over the other rest secured that neither choice is inferior.

                      And second, semi spoilers:

                            Re: The War for Cybertron

I'm having mine shipped by Best Buy since I wanted Jazz but don't want to drive all the way out to the store and pick it up. I was never much for being a pre-order/first adapter guy anyway.

Still though, I heard there was a massive bug during the 360 MP demo that allowed players to transfer ability sets between different classes. I'm hoping this bug is fixed by now, or at the very least a 360 exclusive bug. It would be game breaking if this bug stayed in place and never got patched, and this game can't afford any major flaws like that.

                              Re: The War for Cybertron

I take it I'm the only one here who got the game so far?

So far I've been single playing the Decepticon Campaign, which storywise comes before the autobot part, and playing it on hard has made for some intense fights so far. I haven't ever actually played a shooter where they let you actually empty the mag a turret type gun, but this one has so much stuff coming at you there have been times where they give you multiple turrets to burn through, which just feels bad ass. But that also seems to be something that puts many people off, ammo and health are only found in specific locations, so if you're not careful you can find yourself completely drained of firepower leaving you with nothing but lackluster FPS-esque melee attacks. That said, if you plan it well, aim carefully and use the weapons to their fullest (i.e. aim for the heads) you'll have more then enough ammo for everyone.

Transforming is a bit different then what people would expect though. When you go from robot to alt mode, you actually transform into a sort of hover vehicle. It doesn't matter what your alt mode actually is, car, tank, jet, when you transform you go Bot to Hover mode. In hovermode you don't move too fast but you do have access to your alt mode's weapons and can maneuver around easier, even being able to jump. If you want to go fast though, you hold the "Booster" button and you'll sort of transform again, into a more classic vehicle type mode. Cars burn rubber, tanks roll out, jets fly around etc, so it really does add a whole new type of gameplay to fights, especially bosses where sometimes you just need to gtfo in a hurry.

MP is pretty fun too...when it works (the game has massive connection/lag issues right now, couldn't even play with my UK friend ). More or less, you get a total of 12 "character" slots, 3 for each class, where you can pick a different chassis (1 to 3 depending on the faction/class), choose two colors from 5 options per side with varying shades, pick 2 of 4/5 weapons, 2 of 4 active abilities and then 1 offensive perk, 1 defensive perk and 1 support perk, each with 8 options. It's more or less your basic FPS load out system, only you get to make a slightly customized robot for each loadout. Though one nice added bonus here is that the chassis from the pre-order bots can actually be used in MP, which wasn't really mentioned anywhere, but it does add some nice options for people who pre-ordered.

Overall it's a fun game, not perfect by any means but worth playing imo. It's not exactly an easy game though (well, maybe it is on Easy, but where's the fun in that?) but as a licensed game it's certainly one of the better ones made. My biggest gripes right now boil down to two things, A) fixing multiplayer and the connection issues and B) Give use more god damned colors and chassis options. Seriously, no matter what color I choose for my 'cons, they always come out as either super light or almost black, there's like no inbetween with them.
