Arguably the best mech series. I think what has yet to convince me to buy an armored core game is more personality with its characters to give it more of a soul. but ya I know this isn't gundam. :p

Too true. AC4 took the level of customization to an obscene level. I've always loved how you can tweak your Mech, but do I really need to be concerned with the speed and angle at which my mech's chest pivots?!


@. @ that, and they changed Energy Weapons so that they actually have an ammo cost in missions. That was the last straw for me. The whole freaking point of those things was that they were a good way to keep expenses down on sorties. If they fix that, and change overheating back to actually causing damage rather than draining your energy bar, then I'll consider buying.

Also wtf @ still not being able to make flying mechs.

The plots in each game have always been very poorly written... I never paid much attention to it. I just love the Mech play

If I want Mechs with a plot I'll just go watch Gundam.

I never played AC4, but I enjoyed AC: For Answer and I have faith in From Software so I will probably be picking this up as soon as it's available.

I don't remember the older games having much in the way of character development, but I do remember For Answer having semi-decent character development. Or, at the very least, there were characters that actually spoke, had back stories, motives for their actions and they were plot related.

8th MS Team. One of the most down to earth (literally and figuratively) tales in the Gundam universe, one that isn't filled with super powered whiney emo kids with over powered super robots. It's that touch of realism that made Gundam such a hit in the first place so it sucks that it gets further and further away from those roots with each new series.

Try AC:For Answer. AC4 was screwed up bad by Sega, but AC:4A was a much better game in all respects

In most AC games this is true, but in some gems, like Silent Line and :4A the characters actually start to stand out. AC:4A especially had a surprising amount of life behind the voices of those guys you were gonna go out and blow up.

They fixed all of those in AC:4A. Energy weapons were free ammo, you could build ACs that could literally fly forever, without any cheats like Human+ or OPi and removed overheating entirely. Hell, imo the weakest part of AC:4A was the short missions they had compared to some of the marathon battles we saw in the AC2 and 3 series. But as an overall game, it was one of the strongest AC games to date, and leagues better then AC4 ever was.

It's killing me that I can't remember her name. I didn't use Wingmen when I did missions unless I had to so I never used her as backup. But if I'm remembering right, she was described as a nice, motherly type or something and a combat veteran so I always pictured her being at least middle aged, kinda like Yoko from Valkyria Chronicles. But hot dayum if that's what she looks like then add me into the camp that wants to see more of these AC pilots.

For Answer also had online co-op. If they make a 4 player online co-op for next AC supported in all levels, with longer missions, it could end up being more fun than Star Fox series (which has yet to even have co-op)

I thought I remember For Answer still costing you money, and the customization was still way, WAY too complicated with some of the things you could adjust. I know they removed heat generated from boosting thank God (which never made any sense to begin with; Why even equip thrusters that are just going to burn off part of the mech from use?!) but I could have sworn overheating was still in the game.


I still think Master of Arena was the best in the series. AC2:AA was also pretty damned good, but Master of Arena just owned.

This is weird, but I actually really like a lot of the Armored Core music.

And then there was AC4. With an opening movie sporting that overdone old song that's in every dramatic preview (presumably, that song is now public domain). To make matters worse, when I started playing, I realized the background music was the same song, just turned down.
