Every time I sniped, I didn't even need to really aim the gun. Pointing it towards the enemy's head would ALWAYS land me a head shot.I could kill people hiding behind cover or corners by shooting near their head. Sometimes I could fire a few feet away from an enemy player's head and still land the kill.

You can do it with any gun.

The ability to snipe with any gun seems to be one of the biggest complaints so far, a small machine gun shouldn't be able to counter snipe a large rifle.

But that's besides the point, I was saying I couldn't even see the guy, not his head, not his body, not anything. All I saw was three bullets leaving from the same general area and I shot at it. It was a pure and complete fluke, but it happened because a sniper stayed in the same exact spot after shooting his weapon. That was the entire point of my comment, to show that you could shoot someone you could not visibly see if they stayed in the same exact spot the entire match, just by following their gun fire. Bad snipers camp, good snipers move.

Though I hear a lot of people claim it was actually harder to get one hit kill headshots in this game compared to others, as it's another downside to snipers. I can't really say myself since I spent most of my time with the big machine gun. But still, a lot of people complain about the overall uselessness and underpoweredness of snipers in MAG.

I don't play the game but this sounds asinine. You basically want to be god and kill people with no risk of ever getting killed yourself?

No risk my ass. That's what airstrikes & artillery is for. Or a competent enemy sniper. Besides, in Domination mode if your bunkers get blown up it forces you to spawn way back behind the front lines.

@.@ and I had a bitch of a time getting head shots with the sniper. I was ecstatic when I got the .308 for Valor. All you non-heavies can kiss my ass! Besides, snipers don't go for head shots IRL anyway. It's unnecessary and a much smaller target than the chest area. For that alone I begrudgingly must respect Modern Warfare 2 for allowing OSK with most snipers to the chest area (though, you need stopping power for that which kinda negates it.... seriously shouldn't need stopping power with the Barret .50 cal WTF)


And no, Snipers do not constantly move. The whole point is to find a good vantage point where you won't be spotted. Unlike in video games, you don't get to magically know where you're being shot from IRL Also the next person to say Sniping is useless to the team has to charge an objective with 10+ snipers watching every entry point.

Actually, yes, they do move. If a sniper stays in a single spot too long, they will get hunted down very quickly. As you said yourself, an air strike or mortar will make quick work out of even the best hiding spots.

Also, I've charged objectives covered in sniper fire. One smoke bomb and a good sprint and you're through leaving those snipers are effectively useless. On defense they do have more use, but on offense a sniper picking off stragglers doesn't have as much impact to the team as the guys with rifles in the middle of the action.

Thermal scopes ftw. Or in the case of MAG, suppressing fire. This exactly what LMGs are designed for and why it's team game. Or you could just keep your scope trained in the general area of the smoke and catch people either blindly or just as they're coming out. I don't get why so many people stop firing the moment they see a cloud of smoke. Or am I the only one with the sense to fire INTO THE DAMN THING knowing full well there are enemies inside? Even if you can't see the enemy you can still get a hit marker.

Since this game is officially out, I figured I'd bump this topic to see if anyone actually picked it up as well as ask what faction anyone who did get it joined up with.

While the RPGish style of integration for the storyline Sony is going for is nice, it would be nice if they could include some real time, real life data along with the story elements. Additional and detailed weapon and armor info would have been great as well. But still, it's a solid shooter and probably the last one I'll be gettin for a long while.

they could add a no respawns version of Domination to make things more realistic and more profound. I mean just imagine how much more professional players would play to protect their life, work as a team, and take control of the objectives?

A no respawn Domination would be horribly overbalanced towards the defenders as those gun emplacements and mortars are devastating to the attackers.

It would also be a very long game for people who died early (or at any time for that matter) if they actually decide to stay in the same game after that. Which would probably cause a bunch of people quitting as soon as they die and their scores may or may not be effected since they didn't finish the match. Possible server clog?

In a game where you can die 5 seconds after you start a 30 minute match, no respawns is a terribad idea. Because once you're dead...you're done in that match.

My biggest disappointment with MAG in the open beta was the lack of vehicles and gun variety. It's still a very solid, tactical FPS and I love it but I'm still hoping Bad Company 2 will really deliver. I wanna be able to drive around in a tank or an apache and really F people up
