Not really.. It just depends on what YOU want to do. I was primarily assault rifles. I went all the way with what I wanted and got the AK 107. Then I filled out a couple other lines, but I forgot what exactly I chose. They erase everything when they update the beta so after that I said F it and quit lol.

I will most likely be picking this up, at the very least trying the beta when I can fit it in. I really do love FPS at heart but I have so many to plow through already, I've had L4D2 a month and have yet to really touch it, and haven't even bought MW2 yet

I DL'd the open beta, but since it don't open till the 4th I can't try it until then. Though when I start, I'll prolly end up with Valor. I'm not big on FPSs(only have one for the PS3) so I'm not burnt out on em at all, so I might just have room for this game if it ends up being fun.

What games are you guys burned out on? I've played Borderlands through and through, a lot of L4D2, and I'm at 140% completion in MW2's multiplayer mode. I can't wait to give this game's beta a run-through. I'm also looking forward to Mass Effect 2 and BioShock 2, both shooters or shooter hybrids. I've never heard of being burned out on shooter until today.

I wouldn't say I'm burned out on any specific shooter, but I am very tired of every shooter having incredibly weak last fights/endings, it's been a long time since I've played one with a boss-ish fight, instead I plow through some moderately difficult at best pack of enemies that is not really any different from the last large waves from the previous 2 hours, and BAM! Credits roll.

Online is still enjoyable as long as other people are muted, that goes for pretty much every game but L4D.

Man dude... MW2 and Socom. Those are the 2 games I play with the most replay value simply cause it's online and most my friends in RL and on PSN play them.. And it's ALL we play. But even they are getting tired of shooters after a year of playing mostly Socom and the first MW.. .

SO basically for me, I like to play games that are online mostly and to play with my friends but PS3 doesn't have any good ones. Dragon Age would have been great if it had online Multiplayer. Bioware was dumb not include it :-(

I haven't purchased Assassins Creed 2, Borderlands, and Demon's Souls yet. I will, but basically what I really want is an RPG with online replay value.. Aka.. FFXIV ;-P

The obvious answer is to play NHL10 with me! I love that game but I can't get random vs. matches online that don't quit out of the game every time I go up by more than one, I really wish EA instituted some form of suspension/banning for repetitive quitting.

Then go get Demon's Souls. It's an action RPG with a strong online element, in both co-op and vs options. It also has a load of replayability in that every new play through gets progressively harder and you can build characters down various paths which changes the entire way the game is played.

As for MAG, since it's entirely online, it can't suffer from whatever issues single player FPS games have. No weak bosses or short story modes, just you vs the world.

With a little coordination, Demon's Souls is a multiplayer online RPG with good replay value.

I'm really getting tired of MW2. They really went and did everything wrong, piece by piece. I'm pretty sure nobody else really complains about it because it's just too much to deal with and it's easier (and probably better for your mental health) to ignore it. The what-didn't-just-happen cam is my biggest gripe, and not just because it gives away your location, but because it showcases the game's he-said-she-said game mechanics. It's like listening to somebody tell you how they killed you, because it completely ignores whatever you did. Earlier, I came around a corner and started to unload into a guy, but he miraculously kills me. On the killcam, it shows him coming around a corner and unloading on me, as I stand there. At another point, on Quarry, I have an awesome hiding place under some stairs that goes largely unnoticed, and I kill a guy from it. I pretty much know he's going to come back and try to find me, but I didn't think the game would spawn him ten feet from where I killed him five times in a row (because I killed him four times by alternating positions inside the same room, all within about 30 seconds' time). And, to end the rant, every time I'm the chopper gunner they somehow round up all my enemies as they die and spawn them directly under my chopper for easy kills. Sure, it's great for me, but what the hell? What is it with this respawn mechanic that makes it choose all the worst, horrible, lame respawn locations all the time?

I'm really hoping MAG will be a good tactical shooter that rewards insight and planning more than superfluousness. One thing that really brings the team effort together is the ability to revive teammates. I'm tired of these team deathmatches where the only difference from normal deathmatch is that you can't kill half the people in the game.

I know Demon's Souls is multiplayer.. but from what I hear, it's not the kind of multiplayer I want. I am still going to get it, but do I want Borderlands first? Or Assassins Creed II?

I'm not with you more on how tired I am getting of MW2. Now the kill-cam does give away your position, but you hope that it prevents people from camping in the same damn hard to reach you spot. And have you noticed how much more bitches play this game now!? Put the noob tube down and get some gun game you &%^& sucker!!

I still don't know if I will end up buying MAG or not. Like I said.. I may take a break from shooters for a while. They aggravate me so much and piss me off to the point where I think I will get high blood pressure and need counseling and I am only 21.

                            High blood pressure: check.

In my experience, spotting and killing campers isn't much of a challenge in more tactical games. You'll usually know where some of the better spots are after a few runs through. You really don't need the game to hold your hand and point them out to you. If they found a good spot, their reward should be the advantage of being in that spot.

And, yea, MW2 for Christmas means a moderate influx of new players. The grenade launchers are too powerful to ignore at first, but they'll move on. If you're talking about seeing an influx before Christmas, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

BTW, Demon's Souls' multiplayer is simply inviting dead players to join your game through the soul signs they leave for the living players. You can coordinate with a buddy to invite them to your game, but there's no built-in communication for you. PSN doesn't even have voice chat like XBL. I think Sony attempted to appeal to the antisocial gamers with the PS3.

Borderlands is great the first time through, though the multiplayer difficulty is fairly artificial and takes some getting used to. Luckily, while playing co-op, the guns you'll find are slightly better. If you coordinate your spec properly you'll have no trouble.

You can choose either, it's win/win, but if you're getting tired of shooters Demon's Souls might help.

Re: MAG ! Super awesomest game of the year ever ???

Actually the MP in Demon Souls boils down to three types of play:

Co-op with blue souls where you can summon "dead" players to assist you in levels you haven't killed the boss in yet

Vs fights against invading black phantoms, where other "dead" players can break into your game, assuming both you and the boss of that level are still alive, hunt you down and fight you

And duels, where you can put down a challenge, wager a specific amount of "souls" (the currency of the game) and fight someone one on one at your discretion.

All three online modes really add a lot to the game. The lack of voice chat for the game also adds to that feeling of desolation and isolation the game invokes, these summoned souls aren't physically there, they're phantoms from other worlds. Much like you make less sounds while you're in spirit form, you also can't communicate through words. It has nothing to do with catering to "anti-social players", as the online aspects of this game are built right into the core of the gameplay, it's more about maintaining that solemn, lonely feel the game creates as you travel through the increasingly bleak worlds and dungeons.

And from my understanding, some XBox games are trying to block cross game chatting because it enables cheating by having enemy players join an opposing team and giving away any and all of their info to the other team. Cross game chat is great for single player and less serious games, but it seems to actually be an issue when accessible to more "hardcore: multiplayer situations. Of course this is ignoring the fact that most PS3 online titles usually have their own voice chat systems and that the PS3 will be gaining cross game chat soon anyway.
