    Which one?

My personal favorite is still the Devil's Cry, though that's kind of a shared theme between him & Virgil.

I didn't care for it because I thought it was just dull. It started off well enough but just tapers off. I've been playing it again (currently @ the 2nd last dungeon and doing a lot of side quests while I still have Reddas in my PT) and there are just a lot of aspects about the game that annoy me.

I dunno, it felt like it had the potential to be epic but they squandered it with that bogus ending & Ashe falling into the stereotypical hero role, abandoning her quest for vengeance. I was actually loving Vayne right up until he became a massive hypocrate @ the end by turning into that which he sought to destroy/remove from the world.

Vaan is still the worst/most poorly written main character ever, but the rest of the cast kinda makes up for him. Basch was gliche but tolerable, Fran is kinda cool I guess (w00t sexeh bunneh!) but my favorites are still Balthier and Larsa. I just found them to be the most entertaining/interesting. I like that they made it so political, it made things interesting in a way they haven't since FF6 I just feel like they dropped the ball in a few places.

I think what pissed me off most was the Bazaar system and the way the game handled quests.

Ya I've never been able to care enough about XII to finish it. I never get pas the Leviathan airship before I just get so bored and play something else. FF:Tactics was a much better political/religious oriented story with more interesting characters that grew in a way that they ended up different then they started.

It doesn't help that I hated the judges in FF:TA (actually just was just really disappointed with FF:TA) so as soon as I saw them show up again in XII, and then seeing all the other similarities with TA, I was already not as excited about the game as I was with say, FFX.

Hell my wife is more interested in me finishing the game then I am, she is wondering how the story ends up.

Oh, and Chrono Crosses soundtrack was a very good soundtrack.

I linked it in my nomination Its based around the theme from the very first game, though Meguro added a substantial bit to it.

Also, as I said, you don't understand FFXII because you do not invest in its story outside of what is laid out for you in the cutscenes. FFXII does not subscribe to the melodramatic heart-on-my-sleeve bullshit that FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX do. People do not function like their protagonists, though maybe an exception can be made for Auron, Lulu, Squall because its everyone else around them that's unrealistic, not them.

You're used to dealing with Bond villians and cliched heroes, so much that you can't even see that Ashe did the least cliched hero thing - she's living with two big lies - Basch murdered her father and Basch is dead. To maintain peace within the ranks of her people, she has to lie about him, even though his loyalty in her and her father never wavered for a moment. He is damned by history and hated by the people he swore to protect, even though he's still living an honorable life under his brother's name. His brother reclaimed his honor when he defied Vayne and gave his life for Larsa and in that Basch can continue to live as his own name is defiled.

No one leaps around saying it because they really shouldn't have to, you should be able to understand it. If you can't infer that much, then god help you the second a game gives you much, much less to go on like Ico or Shadow of the Colossus.

Not a chore, she just wants me to finish games that I start once she has become interested in the story, she watches them like movies. It comes in handy since I have to take over the TV. Only sucks when she gets more interested in a game then I am.

              Bullshit.

And Vayne is an egomaniac who wants to put mankind's fate back in it's own hands, but ends up becoming like the very Gods he so hates. Oooo, didn't see THAT coming a mile away.

Nothing about 12's story escaped me, so get off your f'ing holier than thou already. The plot was not that complex, it was just boring. Sure it wasn't as flamboyant about things like some of the others were (I retain that FF7 is almost campy with the tone it took on some of the story segments, Sephiroth especially) but it wasn't that big a leap from the others.

12 sucked, and that's my opinion. That's great that you seem to love it so much, but I still feel it blew horse dick and let's leave it at that (agree to disagree if you will)

LOL I do this to my son. I love certain games but I just can not play them. (i.e. anything with zombies, scary shit, cameras that give you motion sickness, etc.) So I curl up on the couch and watch him play....and I usually scream a lot when its some scary shit...like Siren today. Good frickin lord I want to see what happens next but then again I don't!

So far you've done little else that come in and object to things other people like, which is not the point of this thread. There is no room for a dissenting argument, only nominations. But you have to comin with this holier-than-thou shit about Chrono Cross the second it gets mention.

In short, if you have nothing of not to add to the nominations of other, just say nothing. You're only proving my point about your comprehension level when you can't at least follow the one guideline everyone else seems willing to maintain - that this isn't a thread for debate, only nomination.

Nothing you say will change what is calculated at the new the new cut-off date, which I'll just set for the end of January now. People now have time to think and spell out their choices from the last decade, but dissenting opinions are not what is being asked for. I don't care if you don't like something, nor will anyone else. Its not the point.

I hate Bethesda's games, but if someone mentions one, I'm gonna have to count it anyway. I can't change what other people like and I really see no benefits in trying to.

You know those are actually 2 games of that genre that I actually DID play. But it took me a god damn long time to do it! I think I'd play for a while, pause, pick it up a couple hours later, play till I'd get freaked out again, pause, rinse and repeat. lol

I remember the first time that shit came skittering out from under a car...it was summer and the windows were open and my neighbor came running over to see if I was ok because I screamed bloody murder! But...I digress...ON WITH THE NOMINATIONS!

(I'd nominate but too many damn restrictions! lol)

Re: DiV's top 20 RPGs of the decade nominations

Ok, so back on topic, here is my list of nominations:

FFIX: Up until IX, the PS1 FF's were really futuristic, and restricted you to only 3 characters in your party. I loved the fact that IX went back to its old-school roots in regards to the party make up, locales, and musically. I dunno, just the quirkiness of it really attracted me.

Deus Ex 2: I hadn't played much of the Deus Ex games, so this was my first time dabbling in the series, but the fact that I made multiple game saves, and really really took the time to think about what decisions I was going to make was a big plus to me.

FFXI: I'm sorry, but as much as a lot of people hate this game, it was my first MMO, and I think it did a lot of great things to have been running for so long. Great story lines (CoP the best) and a brutal grind that kept people busy for hours on end all help it earn a spot in my book.

Legend of Dragoon: Great combat system, decent story, great visuals really helped me enjoy this game and all it brought to the table.

Cant think of any more at this time.

I heard Deus Ex 2 wasn't as good as the original. Speaking of which, how the hell did I not put that on my list. I'm gonna have to fix that later because Deus Ex was an amazing game.
