The History of Glory of Heracles - Nintendo DS feature - at IGN
Not often do I enjoy IGN's coverage, but this was a case where they were genuinely trying. This is the first of the six titles in the series to come stateside. The series started in the hands of Data East and was later acquired by Paon Corp. after Data East folded and became part of Paon.
This will be the first title Nintendo publishes for the DS and its nice to its one of the many fresh IPs (to us anyway) that they'll be bringing to the states. 2010 is looking to be another strong year for the DS.
The series was known to ape the footsteps of Dragon Quest in the past, but what makes this installment worthy of note is some creative additions to the combat system. There will be some twitch-based QTE style mini-games, which can be used to power-up spells and an overkill system that awards MP for any and all excessive damage dealt to an enemy.
The story of this title follows Heracles (the Greek version of Hercules) and his exploits to recover his memory. There were two other amnesiac protagonists in the series previously and Heracles later joined their parties. I guess they decided it was his turn to lose his memory.
This is probably the one and only game I'll be picking up prior to FFXIII.
