Bad enough they did so much damage to it as a PC release, but now even GTA feels like high-brow entertainment.
It's not sick, it's just pointless. Anything they were trying to do or say they could have easily done through one of those disembodied conversations at the beginning of each level. I'm not even sure it was done to stir controversy, but it most likely was.

You glean only a little information about the other people through a few of the things they say, and the end is a jumping off point for further plot. Overall, it's a very weak addition to the plot and raises a lot of questions.

I've enjoyed multiplayer. It isn't a crazy killfest, though it can be a little annoying at times. Controlling your very own guided missile is pretty awesome.

        Re: CoD:MW2

I've actually heard a lot of people already say that the story is pretty pointless and that this scene was even moreso. So even if you want to maintain "pointless" or "disgusting" most people seem to be agreeing that either way, the level wasn't exactly necessary. Even the game itself somewhat reinforces that point since you can opt out the more violent content from within the game's settings.

So we have three sides in agreement that the level wasn't a needed part of the experience, even the people who made the game. So why include it? What is trying to be said with it?

If you're trying to communicate the horrors of terrorism, I don't think we need many interactive examples. I mean, I don't sit here wondering what its like to live in the shoes of a coward that blows up himself and others for some virgins in the afterlife. I've seen their real acts, seen it affect the lives of those around me. We just had a guy gun down soldiers on their own base last week. I don't really need Infinity Ward's help to paint a picture on this one.

Additionally $59.99 or more should mean the single player campaign lasts more than four hours. I know the attraction is multiplayer and all, but still, there are lots of shooters out there that try to make a genuine effort of it and can make it last at least 15 hours or so.

Fuck Activision and fuck this game.

On top of horribly screwing over PC gamers, you know, the loyal people who built your fucking company I'm hearing all kinds of reports about how the Reviews are too generous; there are major bugs with the MP aspect, the campaign is too short and unoriginal etc etc... the GT Review was one of the most sickening pieces of crap I've ever watched.

Activision needs to DIAF. If Infinity Ward could go solo or with a better publisher that'd be awesome but as it stands I don't think I'll be buying this. Sticking it to your loyal consumer base is just not cool.

          It needed to be said.

EDIT: Holy crap are BBQ and I actually in agreement?

              Re: CoD:MW2

I love how you guys bashing it don't own the game and haven't played it.

Modern Warfare 2 IS getting unconscionably high review marks in some cases. The graphics aren't all that and a bag of chips. The gameplay improvements are incremental, not revolutionary. The single player campaign isn't any longer than the first game (which wasn't that long), and yes the act of terrorism mission could have been excluded and everything would have been fine.

There are some bright spots though Spec Ops co-op missions are cool. Multiplayer is pretty good (not surprising considering it's a slightly more polished MW1). The single player campaign IS short but what there is of it is pretty good.aside from the optional mission which adds a whole lot of nothing except shock factor, but I guess some people like that sort of thing.

Weapons seem more bakanced, frame rates are consistently good, storyline's not bad, and voice acting is well above average.

Overall, it's a good game. Maybe 8 or 9 out of 10. I think the 10/10 review givers are out of their minds, personally, but despite being an evolution rather than a revolution, it's still a fun and engaging experience.

                Re: CoD:MW2

My friend described this game to me last night over XBL around 1am. He mentioned he thought it was bullshyt about the "invasion" and that it was pretty much more graphic in terms of mass death than the previous one... he even described it to me and I was like like..... whoa. lol

I don't play COD but I kinda got interested in it about 2 weeks ago and even then, since I was such a newb to it all.... I was pretty shocked at how violent the executions were in the opening CG of MW.

Of course, I'm not desensitized to violence like most people this days I suppose. I even remember getting freaked out by God of War the first time I played it hahaha.

Those are actually the sane guys. The people you want to steer clear from are the people who bash it, and then buy and play the game anyway.

Which is specifically why I bought it. With all the shit being slung, I wanted to know what was really going on.

The gameplay isn't anything to write home about, and if it is it's simply a letter explaining how disappointed you are. The game is obviously meant to be cinematic, but it plays like a book. It plays like a book with multiple plot holes.

The AI is the worst. Enemies and allies don't really shoot at each other unless directed to do so. I've seen them standing right next to each other waiting for me to show my face or 'advance the plot' as my friend like to put it. Are they sharing war stories over a spot of tea? SHOOT HIS FACE OFF. SHOOOOOOT.

Or you could have just rented it like I plan to do. I still want to try it out, maybe snag a few achievements, but I'd rather pay my local video store the $7.00 to play it for 5 days than pay $60.00 to activision

And Icemage, I'm not bitching about the game itself; I'm bitching about the bullshit Activision has pulled on PC gamers. That is seriously not cool. Their reasoning behind it is because of the 360 version too... it was all covered in an episode of Invisible Walls a few weeks back, and I happen to agree with what Marcus said about it 100%.

Get this, they cited cost issues and that sales wouldn't be high enough (compared to those say on the 360) and that it's more cost-effective to just pay M$ for the live servers...

Methinks the cost to run those servers is nowhere near the potential damages that will ensue from this PR nightmare. It's not as though PC gaming has just off and suddenly died either.

The game asks if you would like to skip some parts of the game that people may find offensive. I assume its the airport level. The only downside is that you may lose a chance for a few trophies.

Sorry, play doesn't factor into what I'm judging here, in some cases due to a lack of features that should have been there anyway.

The PC gamers that really expected those features DID get shafted, the hypocrites are the PC gamers that went out and got it anyway or pirated it. They will look for any excuse to tear the game apart. Those people are bashing.

PC reviewers that were giving scores on par with its console counterparts I also have to question. The fact that some of them don't even bring up the gutting of dedicated server support and mod tools leads me to wonder who's really writing the reviews here. This isn't stuff you gloss over for the PC market.

I am not really even a PC gamer, but I understand why they're upset. I also understand that if I don't like something, its probably not a good idea to buy it. When someone does something I disagree with, I communicate that by not giving them my money.

I didn't like what I was hearing about this game, so clearly the first thing I need to do is buy it to give it a fair shake, right? I could be totally wrong about how tasteless gunning down hundreds of civilians is, but I think stopping three minutes into the video online showed me it was a fairly tasteless, weak plot device. Tom Clancy could have summed that whole scene better in a paragraph and used it as a point in which to move the main plot. In fact, hasn't he done that a lot?

The fact they put the option to skip it in there shows the scene's irrelevance. So why does it exist at all? What was the motive here?

Played MP for a few hours last night and I'm glad that "Sleight of Hand" was made accessible almost from the very start (Had to unlock create-a-class first, unless there is a beginner class that uses it.) My sidearm is a shotgun and OMFG the shotguns are sweeeeeet. IMO the 'Nade Launchers, read n00btube, are a bit overpowered, but then too maybe they aren't. When you get to a certain level, you can pick what Kill Spree Items you want (3 Kill UAV, 4 Kill UAV Jammer (I think), I forget what my 5 kill was I think it was a missle of some sort.) There were also many other options for the sprees that I can't remember atm. One in particular I liked was the "Supply Drop" (Which might not be the name but you get the picture.) A dropship would drop a crate with random power-ups in it, could be anything from ammo to a Stealth Bomber Airstrike. BTW I only played Team Deathmatch, some of my friends were playing some of the more involved MP games, but I like TDM the best.

I haven't completed the game yet so I do not know. I can only assume that it is to show how "bad" the bad guy is. Of course it has been mentioned in this thread that they probably could have done something else to create that feeling.
