Zack was never emo, that was Cloud.

You could see Sora and Riku playing in the background on Destiny Island in the TGS Trailer, so seeing Kairi in Radiant Garden didn't surprise me. The connection between Ventus, Terra and Aqua to Sora, Riku and Kairi respectively is what I'm really wanting to see laid out.

Also, Kingdom Hearts Coded - meh, cell phone game. Put it on iTouch and maybe I'll care about it. So far it seems to pose questions that I could draw answers from elsewhere already.

Except Cloud was never emo. He just wasn't extroverted and hyperactive. That didn't stop Nomura from stickin' a big ol' black angel wing, a tattered red mantle (bonus: obscures face!), claw-like fingers, even more belts, and (inexplicably) sword bandages.

Sephiroth destroyed my hometown and family there.
Sephiroth killed my best friend's girlfriend who I was trying to later move in on.
I'm gonna mope about that and totally ignore this T&A delight I swore to protect.
Shinra is destroying the Planet.
Shinra spliced Sephiroth genes into me and doused me in mako.
Sephiroth wants to kill me.

None of these are reasons to fight. I'm just a total fraud. Totally not being emo here at all.

If suffering great misfortunes were all it took, practically every main character in RPGs would qualify as emo. Difference is many of them don't pull a Shinji and drown in self-pity 'til they're useless and quit life.

He still walked around as "Mr Big Shot Look At Me I was a First Class SOLDIER P.S. Barrett you suck" whenever he wasn't busy dealing with the upcoming end of the world. If anything he was more of an asshole than emo.

Also leaning towards Aerith instead of Tifa was a 100% sane reaction given his past with Tifa.

Well, until he gets the Buster Sword, of course. But the magazine just shows him with one of his starting claymores (which I just noticed, totally lacks a counter-weight . . . ).

Kairi would be 4, if I remember correctly (she was 14 in KH1, this is 10 years before that), shouldn't she have some memory of these events?

Memories from that age are sometimes hard to trace. Its plausible se didn't remember it. Doesn't she say somewhere that she doesn't remember much of her life before the islands in the original game?

Mmmkay.... Finished KH II on Proud Mode. Aside from the initially harsh difficulty spikes in the first and second half of the game, didn't feel too different to me than on normal difficulty. I actually had less trouble this time than four years ago, too.

Granted, I've still a cup or two to complete for the Colluseum and Sephiroth to take down still, but I'll work on that as the month goes forward.

I gotta say, though, I really hope that in BBS and whatever else besides Coded they do that they work on the final boss encounters. With the exception of Marluxia, it feels like they're just designed to annoy more than challenge you. And even Marluxia does some annoying things, they're just not as over-the-top.

Still gonna lean toward 358/2 Days having the best Synthesis system of the series. KH and KH II don't seem to want you to start to tap its potential until level 50+, in 358/2 you were playing with it before you got past 10. There's no reason to go back to the old system and I hope they don't.

I did catch some references to BBS, Xigbar was the one to let it slip "You're not half the hero those other guys were.

There's actually a lot in what I've read about Coded and BBS. I'm starting to smell SE's love for Star Wars again in this.

BBS is Episode I-III, things will end badly cuz they have to. KH is Episode IV. CoM and 358/2 are Episode V (Sora gets cabonited, and things go bad elsewhere). KH II is Return of the Jedi (Hollow Bastion gets the Battle for Endor treatment).

Coded and KH III are where VII and VIII would be if Star Wars had gone the nine episode route as intended

The only difference is that in the case of KH, a third party got in the way of the Jedi and the Sith. Maleficent and Pete still have a job (Darth Vader in this case, too). So now we gotta do the whole redemption thing and restore things to the way they once were

Time for a random KH tidbit. This week's installment is a summary of the 2010 Jump Festa trailer of KH: BbS by Maiki and jen-kat of KH Insider

- The trailer starts with Ven sitting unconsciously on a thrown in what looks to be the Chamber of Repose
- There's a conversation between Master Xehanort and Master Eraqus about the Keyblade war
- Terra swings his Keyblade, saying "my dream is to become a Keyblade Master." Aqua replies with "you mean 'our' dream"
- Goofy and Donald stand guard at the Mysterious Tower when suddenly there's an explosion. They find Ven unconscious on the ground, holding in his hand a translucent blob that looks like a blue glowing paopu fruit
-The Fairy Godmother asks Terra if he has a heart that believes in dreams
- Captain Justice makes an epic appearance, but Aqua laughs it off
- Zack asks Aqua on a date. She gets embarrassed and shakes her arms and head
- Hades confronts Terra
- In Neverland, Aqua is holding Ven's Keyblade. Peter Pan tells her that Ven left it behind
- Terra yells out in front of a sleeping Aurora, "what did you make me do?!"
- Ven holds his head in pain on the ground, with Mickey being unconscious behind him. Master Xehanort says something to him
-The FMV scenes of the screenshots displayed in the 30 second TV CM and magazines scans are shown
-Terra and Aqua are shown facing off against eachother
-Vanitas and Ven reenact the scene of Sora looking up to find Riku holding out his hand to him in the first Kingdom Hearts
-Ven runs through a dark hallway and the walls have a hologram of King Mickey in action
- Terra is chased by a flood of water in what looks to be the hallway of Castle Oblivion
- In-game cutscene of the secret ending from the second Final Mix
- Master Eraqus talks to Aqua, Aqua looks sad
- Terra is shown with a young Riku at the beach; the sun is setting. Terra asks Riku, "why do you want to leave this world?" Riku replies with "I want to be stronger"
- Aqua is shown with King Mickey and young Kairi. Aqua mentions that she senses 'light' from Kairi, and King Mickey tells her that Kairi is special
- Ven runs past Eleaus and Dilan, and the two yell out "wait!"
- Terra faces off with Braig. Braig has the big scar on his left cheek in this scene
- Ven and Even are shown with Ienzo
- Young Axel and Saïx are shown in their human forms talking to Ven. Axel says "because we're friends, got that memorized?" Both of their hair styles are similar to their Nobody selves, but shorter. Axel wears a scarf on his neck and an orange tank top. Saïx wears a short-sleeved blue training jumpsuit, with a crescent moon mark on his left chest. They both look to be around the same age as Ven. There are no scars or marks on their faces
- A preview of some of the minigames is shown
- Battle scenes are shown of Terra against Braig and Aqua against Vanitas
- Vanitas takes off his helmet (but his face is off screen). Master Xehanort asks him, "how was Ven?" to which Vanitas answers, "I'll train him up."
- Vanitas is unconscious on the floor. Aqua attempts to remove his helmet but Vanitas suddenly laughs hysterically
- Terra is shown fighting Master Xehanort. Terra roars and darkness start to release from him
- A baby (?) is wrapped in clothing and seen on the trunk of the paopu tree that Sora, Riku and Kairi always hang out at. He has a similar appearance to Ven. His eyes are drooping but there are stars twinkling in/around them
- Little Sora watches a falling star in the night sky
- Aqua is shown at the beach, a tear falling down her cheek
- In the last scene, someone says, "his name is..." followed by a scene of Sora in his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, sitting on the paopu tree alone

Hopefully the trailer will be available on the net in a few days.

Its amusing how true that really sounds XD.

Anyway, the VAs for Axel, Saix and Xibgar have all confirmed they are the VAs for Lea, Saix's Somebody and Braig respectively. They have already finished their recordings as well. Wonder if they will do the same thing they are doing in Japan and release it a month after XIII.

SE seems to be picking up localization a bit faster these days. Atlus and Nippon Ichi's turnaround times were really fast, I guess SE stopped by Atlus to take notes or something. Their game have hit US shores within 4-5 months compared to SE's 8-10 of the past.

I just wish they'd give us some idea abotu when DQIX comes out.
