The end of the secret episode in Birth by Sleep: Final Mix
Also, the intro to the Secret Episode
This is the mystery title Nomura has been hinting at. These videos will not last.
EDIT: and they are gone. I am sure it will be easier to get after tomorrow when the game is released.
Quick summary
The preview had Aqua walking, looking up. The image went negative and Aqua exclaimed "What 's that?" Off in the distance was a castle. Destati starts up. Words appear and I cant remember what they are. Mickey is seen in the Realm of Darkness in his KH2 outfit and Star Seeker. Switches to Twilight Town with Hainer, Pense Olette and Kairi at the old Mansion. Camara focuses on Kairi. DiZ is seen with a book in front of Sora's open Pod with Sora in it. Scenes from KH1(FM) are seen. Scene switches Destani Islands with Xehanorts young form. He begins to turn around, turns into Ansem, then Xemnas and finally Master Xehanort. Switches to Sora durning Blank Points, Screen flashes and he is gone. Then its Ven in Castle Oblivion, screen flashes and he is gone. Birth by Sleep - Volume Two pops up
Wait... so... there's another BBS game planned that's not Final Mix?
I'm confused.
Correct
Final Mix is out now in Japan, as it is the 20th there. This movie is a compilation of the intro movie to the secret episode and the secret ending (starts after the 0.5). Nomura teased there was a another title in development during interviews about Re:Coded and BbS:FM. Most people I think assumed that to be 3D, but Nomura denied this. So it looks like Birth By Sleep - Volume II was in fact that new title.
From what it looks like, we might get to experience the worlds in the Realm of Darkness (Aqua looking shocked to see the Castle of Dreams, Mickey wandering around), plus other things like possibly Kairi's role while Sora and Riku are taking their exam. But again, we only got 50 seconds of teaser.
I hate to be that guy, but it sounds completely unnecessary.
People pan games like Days, BBS, Re:Coded and CoM as "supplemental" when I'd actually argue they have some importance in the grand scheme of things, BBS and CoM especially. Days was alright for fleshing out Roxas, Axel and Organization XIII.
This I don't know about. Some things are better left a mystery, especially the goings on with Kairi since she's one of the least interesting characters in the series next to Sora.
Its sort of sad when the doppelgangers are more interesting characters than the originals.
Ven's out, Terra's possessed and Aqua's in the Realm of darkness from the end of BBS and after KH2. I don't know how you can make them useful from those points. Aqua could have run into Riku and Mickey in the Realm of Darkness, but you'd think if she did she could get out with them. Everyone seems to get out but her, really. Deus ex machina just doesn't happen for Aqua - but Mickey, Riku, Ansem, Sora and O. XIII? Seems they come and go as they please.
I finished the main storyline of Re: Coded and I feel like it's the best realized version of the battle system used across all the games, especially in how it took the best aspects of Birth by Sleep, combined with customization of 358/2 Days and Chain of Memories.
Yet the cheapness of Re: Coded is a real turn off to me. Yes, they varied the gameplay quite a bit, but once again they've rehashed the same old worlds, with some replicated down to the very last detail. Yeah, I get that it's an adventure through Jiminy's Journal so it makes sense. I even saw the trailer of 3D, and groaned when I saw that they were going to yet again use Traverse Town as an explorable locale. All the jumping around and fancy movements don't somehow make it more interesting, just like adding blocks to introduce more platforming doesn't instantly make it fresh and new.
It's really beginning to mar at the integrity of the game series. How many more times must we visit Olympus Colosseum?
Well, if you're going to create a realized world, I'd hope Traverse Town didn't just totally change each time you visited it. That would be wierd.
But here's the thing. Licensing costs money and Disney and SE shareholders want to get as much milage out of this stuff as they can. People act like this is all up to the dev teams that make KHs games and they're just being lazy.
Truth is, its not just like Disney can approve every IP they have, other people have stakes in those IPs and there are sometimes things they want to hype. Tron didn't show up because Nomura wanted it, it was because Tron Legacy was in pre-production and all i part of the early hype, just like Tron 2.0 was. PotC for the same reason, it was a big trilogy at the time and highly marketable, easy to license, too.
But you can't just greenlight it all or lawsuits happen. Turns out crossovers with SNK and Tatsunoko were much easier to realize because there were fewer parties involved with the licensing process.
Example: Do you know why the Smallville never mentioned the name "Superboy" and why they killed Conner Kent in Infinite Crisis? Legal dispute over the rights to the Superboy name. Superboy-Prime, however, was created by someone not suing them, so he killed Superboy when DC was served a nice little cease-and-desist order. It did make Infinite Crisis more dramatic, but they killed him because they were working on the settlement, which didn't really come along til late 2007.
Example 2: There's a reason Mavel Vs. Capcom 3 took 11 years to happen - Stan Lee didn't create everything in Marvel and other people have a say. To say nothing of EA wrangling the rights back in 2005 to cash in on MVC2's popularity by making Marvel Nemesis (which everyone hated), then Sega gets the rights to Iron Man and other companies had Spiderman.
Sometimes you have to wait for the stars to align for this shit to happen.
Ever wonder why Robin Hood and The Fox and the Hound don't get into Kingdom Hearts? Because Don Bleuth worked on them and he's an artsy-fartsy type that hates seeing his work commercialized by the boardroom execs that came to run the show when the Walt retired and Roy was never allowed to take over. Even if Roy were in charge, I doubt it would happen. Don Bleuth gets to have a say or he can sue.
Its just the way it works. And SE wants to make more money on the IP, so they have little choice but to work with what they have and expand the story with what they have access to or the characters they can create in the meantime.
Game play of Aqua in the Realm of Darkness. Eraqus's Keyblade is called Master Keeper with 7 in both Attack and Magic. And yes the CSs are in Japanese but the battles are in English. I have no idea why S-E went with that. Also Music and Armor of the Master and No Heart fights. All under Spoilers
I'm clearing out a 40+ sector in the game and I get to the fourth floor and the challenge criteria is "PLAY AT NIGHT!"
And I can't back out and save during a sector sweep, so I can't accept the challenge until real world night or I lose. At least I looked it up on the internet before I accepted, because from my understanding had I accepted at 5pm, I would have instantly lost the challenge.
So... I'm putting the DS to sleep mode, making a sandwich and watching another episode of Firefly on Netflix >.>
