Vanitas copies your Curagas? Well that helps a lot. I had been told to use Potions, but the reason I was given is that they're faster and safer, so I just kept using Cures (it's not that hard to find an opening for one.) Maybe I don't have to grind an extra 10 or 20 levels to take him down after all.

Also BBQ it might help you to know that Thunder Surge and Fire Surge give you invincibility. I've heard Aerial Slam does too. It could help you out, because Vanitas attacks constantly and it can be hard to find an opening in the middle of his attacks. Too bad he resists all the elements that aren't null so heavily.

EDIT: Also, can you rematch Vanitas at any time or will he disappear after I beat him?
EDIT2: Badass, now that he's not healing himself I can at least get him down to half health.

I might do it later, I gave it a shot last night but it had been weeks since I played and I didn't really remember who I gave what and what abilities still needed to be fused per character.

I was kinda in No More Heroes mode last night anyway. Now I'm doing NMH2.

I'll probably save those BBS extras for another playthrough, I've still got other PSP games in my backlog I need to get done.

OK, grabbed up KH Re:Coded and about to start that up shortly, so I'll update this post with impressions a little bit later.

Made off like a bandit on my trade ins, was able to get this and pay of Radiant Historia for next month. Unfortunately my GS didn't have Ghost Trick in stock otherwise I would have picked that up as well.

As usual, the KH pre-order bonus was laughable. Puffy decal stickers. The various emblems you see in the series, basically.

You'd think it would kill SE to add a CD soundtrack or something for early buyers. Radiant Historia will have one, but that's Atlus for you.

SE doesn't need accessories to sell their games, brah.

The gift for getting Kingdom Hearts early is getting Kingdom Hearts early. Feel proud.

Ok, after poking around the game for a bit...

              What I like:

              - Stat Matrix is like the Sphere Grid from FFX meshed with the Command Decks from 358/2 days. Its feels more like a skill tree than the usual grid system but it adds the multipliers of 358/2 Day's command deck pieces if you manage to link processors found on the Stat Matrix

              - Command Matrix is more like the Command Meld system from Birth By Sleep or Materia Fusion from Crisis Core:FFVII, only you get to play with the desired result before settling on the final fusion of commands. No worries about the results of a fusion this time out, so no commands you level up go to waste on experimentation

              - A "Cheat" system lets you adjust things on the Stat Matrix, but there's a catch to each cheat system. Lowering the difficulty lessens the chance of seeing the secret ending (as usual), tampering with the loot cheat increases item drop rates, but at the expense of reducing Data Sora's HP

              - What could have been a boring retread of the original (somewhat) KH story is spiced up a bit with finding data backdoors, glitches and following up the usual hack'n'slash play with a genre shake-up before the boss of each area. To face the usual big armor boss of Traverse Town, this time I had to 2D platform my way to him with limited command. Some levels turn into a shmup, another a turn-based RPG in the classic perspective of one.

              - Data Sora isn't whiny.

              - Finally having caught up to Linkfrom 13 years ago, Sora now jumps toward ledges and from platforms he nears the edges of.

              - Surprising number of voiced cutscenes early on, these tapered off pretty fast in 358/2 Days before surging back at the end, so there's a nice pace set here.

              - Data corruption of the world aside, the worlds from the original game are faithfully reproduced.

              - Using commands isn't as cumbersome as it is in BBS and the console games.

              What I'm not liking:

              - They fucked the camera again. What was managable in 358/2 Days and BBS is basically screwed up back to the original KH camera. I guess it was that or making commands hard to access.

              - As a result, the camera can fuck you on critical platforming jumps, forcing you to start from the bottom again

              - Also the camera likes to fuck you over on some 3D bosses and create blind spots in general combat, punishing you whether or not you choose to lock on to an enemy during combat with more than one enemy.

Thank Jeebus. I can't think of a better way to do it but forcing me to use my thumb for moving AND switching commands is awful.

Alice in Wonderland's boss level "glitch" game was Space Harrier, officially making it the most interesting trip to Wonderland in Kingdom Hearts. Right now, I'm working my way through Olympus Colosseum with Herc in a turn-based RPG.

Found a small glitch in BbS. If you cast a spell the moment a Twister zone loads (start pressing Triangle before the zone loads) in the Twister Trench in the Keyblade Graveyard, instead of the casting animation, the character will do the D-link animation instead, then finish with the casting finish.

Absolutely useless, but nifty none the less

Also English version of secret movie from Re:Coded is up

(need 20 trophies to unlock i think)

Speaking of BBS I grinded Aqua to 39 (just enough to have 1 more Magic than Vanitas has Defense) on my Final Chapter file and beat him...only to realize I can't fight the Mysterious Figure in that file My Ven's only Lv.1 and Terra was my first character so I'm missing a lot of commands and the difficulty is Proud, not Critical. Plus I HATE Terra's Slide.

                        New scan of BbS:FM

                        http://www.kh2.co.uk/wp-content/uplo...11/01/khfm.jpg

Shows off what appears to be the new secret episode: Aqua's time in the Realm of Darkness. Seen are her using Master Eraqus's Keyblade and the D-link gauge is empty. It also looks like there are lots of pure-blood heartless. This episode is voiced in Japanese.

I'm still wondering when SE is going to grow out of the "special version for Japan only" stuff.

I mean, really, they could just not add stuff to the western release, which would mean it gets out in the west faster (worked for FFXIII it seems). Then they could release a special edition for both territories with even more extras and no one feels shorted on the bonuses anywhere.

And, really, they should get another team on an HD collection for PS3 for KH, KH Re:CoM and KH2 with all the FM extras. This way those new the series and those in need of a refresher can have something to go with KH 3 when its out. You know, because only the console versions matter to them anyway.

I've still enjoyed all the handheld versions more. I mean, SE really screwed up Re:CoM. Sure, I'm happy to play it in 3D with cutscenes but some of those slights were so beastly that it wrecked the balance of the game. Plus they got too generous with Premium cards when there was a catch to how often you could use them. Plus some of the cutscene work just felt cheap. Did they really need to use compressed FMVs and really couldn't be bothered to use an in-game engine. DS I understand but not PS2.

I'd rather just play the GBA version again, but I'll wait and see what the Game Boy store brings for 3DS. Nintendo has to know they're sitting on a potential goldmine with all those GBA games and I'm sure SE is chomping at the bit to cash in on some of their old GBA stuff anyway. (even if they keep on remaking it).

Official title for KH 3DS is Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.

(3 Ds because its in 3D, get it?)

As the name suggests there will also be a larger sense of freefalling, flying, getting knocked back. They also said they were looking to speed up combat in some respects. That was about all the news on that.

Footage showed Sora swinging around light poles during combat and Riku basically wall jumping.

Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of the new worlds.
