First off, Malacite is technically male.

Secondly, you don't say "one best strategy RPGs in ages and a must-own for PS3 owners" and then blame a FPS series on the Xboxes for its lack of success. That's what is called a non-sequitur.

A more logical conclusion would be as BBQ said - Valkyria Chronicles did not reach the level of success it could have because it was exclusive to the PS3, a relatively unpopular system.

First off, I didn't know.

Well, I do find people strange who go on and on complaining about the particulars of a system, but bought the game anyway. These days its really easy to know what games are going to suit you well before they are released if you keep tabs on them. The people who go in expecting to a game to be something it plainly isn't are the people I never really understand.

But back when PS2 was still new we didn't have these wide range of gaming sites we have now. No online demos, no so much emphasis on streamed video for previews and such. Could I have known as much going into the original KH as KH2? Not really. There were improvements to KH2, but not as many as people were claiming.

Would I re-purchase or play KH and KH2 knowing what I know now? Nope. I'd rebuy CoM, but that's about as far as I'd go.

'Bbq, have you ever played any Shadow Hearts titles? I'd highly suggest it. The story is great and there's a lot of content. In fact, I was always overwhelmed by them because I know I'm too perfectionist not to do all the side quest stuff. Every character has side quests to gain additional power. While one character might have to continue to collect things throughout the game and gains additional abilities based on how many they've collected thus far, another character will have to do a series of battles that get progressively harder and become unlocked as certain other things are fulfilled. And for every fight won, they get a new ability.

Just strikes me as your kind of detail overload.

There are people who own a PS3 and will still compare stuff they own or see to Halo YM, which is what I was getting at.

Oh lord yes, the Shadow Hearts series is wonderful. Really quirky humor and I just love it. I highly recommend the games too.

Play Shadow Hearts 1 and 2. There is no Shadow Hearts 3. Every copy of it fell into the same hole that Devil May Cry 2 was thrown into, so just pretend it doesn't exist.

Whole new cast, whole new story thing? Still was interesting, but I didn't play it far (I rented it for a few days).

<One of the few people who actually enjoyed DMC2. Not to say it didn't have <plot> problems. But it was fun, the combat was fine. And I actually liked some of the music which is more than I can say of 3.

SH 1 and 2 are the best, 3 was ok, 4 was...good..but the "ghosts" where annoying, and 5 was great

Honestly, the biggest problem was that the 1st real city you play in (Chicago, I think), had farking obnoxious music. I could only play for like 40 mins at a time 'til i finally got out of that city. And then it was almost time to take it back. Still, I can't prove or disprove the quality of 3's story. The 1st 2 were quite amazing while still somehow evading popularity.

DMC2: people love to bash on it and never really want to give reasons.

Your pistols have a set (lower) rate of fire. Yip. That's the game's horrifying negative. If you take the DMC plots seriously, I think you should prioritize who needs the lobotomy.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to enjoy wall-running and doing the cool evasive flip (WHICH MAINTAINS YOUR COMBO METER HOMG THAT'S BRILLIANT FOR A GAME WHERE YOU NEED TO EVADE NONSTOP).

DMC2: people love to bash on it and never really want to give reasons.

The reasons are that Capcom handed DMC2 to a secondary team that took the criticisms of the first game to heart WAY too much, and as such, gutted the challenge of the game. Seriously, DMC and DMC3 are largely about doing tremendous combos and not getting hit at all. This game doesn't punish you much for getting hit and encourages buttonmashing. Oh, and unlimited continues for dummies. This isn't the sort of franchise you water down just to grab sales from the casual gamer.

Oh and Dante going from jocular to a Cloud Strife complex wasn't helping. Not that I take the story seriously, but what made Dante awesome was that he was one cocky son of a bitch, talked shit and made fun of every situation he was in. It just wasn't there.

I consider Dante's appearance in SMT Nocturne to be DMC 2 for him, he was way more interesting there.
