    blasphemer.
Well ok. The NA arcade promo for R-Type was pretty awesome.

But seriously. Those instruction manuals were the work of the devil, and more than half the time the box arts and translations weren't bad enough to be memorable. Just uncomfortably mediocre, right smack in the middle of the awful-hillarious continuum.

I was waiting for someone else to point it out.

People love to stomp all over FFX and Advent Chidren (of which Loz, Yazoo and Tifa were the only questionable performances - then again this isn't even a videogame we're talking about), but we're several years past this stuff. Its time to get over it on the Square-Enix end.

Hell, look at Dissidia and Crisis Core - I can't find a weakness in the English dub for the life of me.

There was a spelling error in the first scene of War of the Lions, though. They relocalize the whole thing an still flub on a simple word like "sir."

Well, its still better than "This man are sick" and "S'hit."

According bahamut, the sales price is 9240 yen. That's 107$ CAD...
I am not buying that... So they made the system cheaper but charge extras per game? Sony you really out done yourself, your market strategy is amazing now the new ps3 owner are stuck to new game price rises.

I don't think they have the price right -.-

EDIT: never mind I found it listed at several other places as well... 99.99 USD 0.o that better be a collectors version or something -.-

Re: Japan gets official release date for FFXIII

Of course it's going to cost $100. You think all these disks are cheap?

SE is all about keeping things fair between PS3 and 360 users, so both versions have to cost the same regardless of how many discs it takes.

Seriously though, it's probably some collector's edition that comes with an artbook, the OST, a figure of Lightning and a replica of the wig Cloud wears when he's crossdressing in FF7.

              Also..

Sony you really out done yourself, your market strategy is amazing now the new ps3 owner are stuck to new game price rises.

Yeah.. Sony decides the prices of all the games on their consoles.

Not the developers, the publishers, the manufacturers or the store that actually sells you the game. Nope, the big wigs at Sony MUST be the ones deciding prices. That's why every PS3 game you see in stores right now is $100, Sony has to make up for cutting the cost of the slim.

They always charge over the odds for FF games in Japan, presumably because they can.
Personally I'll be getting it imported, it'll be my pat on the back on the back to myself for working so hard for the JLPT this year / commiseration for flunking it.

That's cause FF is more of a "popicondish" thing there. People would be more willing to pay 100+ for a FF game over there than we would here in the US and the UK.

I just prefer to be able to listen to the game in Japanese with English subtitles. It is a Japanese game so I'd like to have the option to hear it in its original language. If it were a German, Italian, Polish, etc game, the same would apply. It's just a preference of mine. Its kind of like someone preferring chocolate over vanilla, it sure doesn't hurt anyone. So why do people get so butthurt about others wanting the original language with subtitles?

I paid $90 for my pre-order through my friend. This was a few months ago though. At the time there was another option but it was $400 or $500 (can't remember the exact price), but that was probably for the limited edition that includes a PS3. So I think the $90 one is just the regular edition.

I normally always play a game in English, then if I thought the voices were annoying and it had an option for Japanese, then I would play the game in Japanese the next time around. Anime on the other hand is different, I'll watch in Japanese then go back to the English version, because chances are if I watch or play a game or anime in English, and I like it, then I won't even attempt the Japanese version, example: why not.... Disgaea Hour of Darkness, and Gundam Seed/Destiny

Final Fantasy XIII Japan launch announced | The Digital Home - CNET News

Square Enix didn't pinpoint a U.S. release date. The company said in previous releases, it took about a "half a year to a year" for it to bring the game to U.S. store shelves. It's still hoping to make it available in spring 2010. Unlike the Japanese version, which only be made available on the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII will be offered to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners. No price has been announced.

There's having a preference and then there's being a japanophile/weaboo about it (See: Atlus USA forums). The preference is just fine so long as you don't go on and on at length about the quality of one languages acting over an English dub. When the person that does go on and on DOESN'T know a lick of Japanese or can't discern that bad acting can happen there, too - they just end up being really fucking annoying and add nothing to the discussion but their apparent bias and desire to be annoying.

I'm all for the option to include Japanese in the English versions of games so long as it doesn't come at the expense of other game features. Blu-Ray can do it, there's no excuse not to keep the Japanese audio in there. It probably won't happen in the 360 version unless that's why there's three discs. I totally understand why smaller formats or DD versions won't provide the option.

With all the western influence Final Fantasy culls from pop culture, I don't really see it as something I have to hear in Japanese. Especially when its something like FFXII, with kings and nobles and almost plagiaristic Star Wars and LOTR imagery.

Yeah I agree with Omg, I will admit, I watch Bleach Naruto and Kamen Rider all in Japanese with English subs, but this is mainly because it not in English at all (yet) and do prefer it in Japanese, but I wont sit there an BS about how Japanese is soooo better blah blah blah.
