Takelli: All download systems that I know of keep track of your account, and allow you to redownload anything at anytime. PSN is actually pretty liberal; you can have an account on up to five machines, and Sony fully endorses account-sharing-- which means, if you can work it out with some people you trust, you can all split the costs of games. And if you sell one of those machines, you can delink your account from it, opening it up for the next five machines. You can have a PS1 game on your PS3 and PSP, and transfer the save file back and forth, etc. Compare to Nintendo, where the account is hard-linked to the console, and you have to talk to customer service about transferring it should your Wii ever break down.

Ok thank you. I wasn't really sure about it as I never tried anything. I only downloaded 2 games, and most of the space is just for saved games.

Even today, the 60GB launch PS3 is the best and most full-featured of all the versions released.

Yes it is, and I will be a very sad panda if/when it breaks down.

Hard Drive space is a moot point when you can stick a laptop hard drive of your choosing into the console (and yes, Sony allows it, and even makes it easiliy doable+says in manual).

replacing your hard drive is not going to help when your system craps out, and Sony tries to replace it with a Slim or one with out backwards compatibility.
