Re: Persona 3 coming to PSP - Now with female protagonist

It came out in Japan today.

That's not leaked, that's just your usual dickhead putting a game up to be pirated.

    Some new details:

    - While one Famitsu reviewer contends otherwise, there seems to be a quite a few differences between the story of the two protagonists, leading the Female to have a different set of endings and side-events in the game

    - Margret - sister to Velvet Room assistants Elizabeth and Theodore - will be making an appearance to challenge players. This is available in both paths.

    - Protagonists are now restricted to slashing weapons. I'm not happy about that, but damage types are maintained and the protagonists do have Personas to get other damage types from. Types are piercing (gun, bow), slashing (sword, lance) and bashing (knuckles, axe).

    - Female's path will have a field trip to a certain locale from Persona 4 and you'll meet a P4 character during your stay. I'm just assuming we see the flipside of beach outing for the female protagonist, but there's some new elements in events and amusing encounters for the male character as well.

    - Without spoiling too much, the fate of certain characters can be changed depending on the social links you build with them. That is, at least, confirmed for the female's path, the male protagonist still has the same social links, I think.

    - For the male protagonist, Mitsuru has raised her academic standards. You'll have to have max intelligence before she'll consider dating you

    - Yukari is still a complete bitch.

      Warning: Loud music in post.

Here's the Female's Battle Theme, "Wiping all Out," practically a perfect compliment to the male's theme.

Here's the theme for the male, "Mass Destruction" just for those that haven't heard it:

FES version for Aigis, "Mass Destruction" remixed:

Tends to take away from an RPG.

Custom soundtracks are cool for sports games, but that's it.

honestly, you're playing a goddamn MMO. If FFXI hasn't been undermined by the fact that NEARLY EVERYONE is using a 'custom soundtrack', it's not an issue.

And yeah, it might not be good for storyline stuff, but for a dungeon crawler you really don't think that unique music for the dungeons and random battles might be a good idea? Or at least more than ONE SONG YOU LISTEN TO FOR THE ENTIRE GAME.

Five years+ on PS2 and I've somehow endured. I have time to get other music elsewhere. I tend to have a very thick skin when it comes to music and repetition.

Well, in P4 the dungeons have different themes and in P3, you have Fuuka that can change the dungeon theme if you ask her to. But only after you have Fuuka and leveled up to a certain point. Its not too long after you get her, actually.

Half the tracks change just for the Female character's path alone, but very little aside from her battle theme has been posted from the dungeons yet.

Why don't you pop a CD into your stereo if you want to hear different music while playing a PS2 game?

Because Persona 3 Portable is kind of a game for the PSP.

If SMT:Strange Journey's time between release and official US announcement is anything to go by, we should see Persona 3 Portable in the US by April or May of 2010. Strange Journey was recently confirmed for release March 10, 2010.

SMT: Strange Journey scored 10/9/9/8 in Famitsu, Persona 3 Portable got 8/8/8/8. Sounds about right for P3P considering this is the third time its been released since 2006. Very much looking forward to both, but probably Strange Journey just a little more as that's totally new.

And what does that have to do with anything? Is your house so poorly designed that you can't sit down next to something you can use to play music?

You seem to not realize that PSP means PlayStation Portable. Portable meaning, you know.. it can be used outside your home.

I really only use mine at home but I know plenty of people that only use it on the go. Sitting down next to an external music player is never an option for them.

You seem to fail to realise that Persona 3 is the sort of game you will sit down to play for a couple of hours rather than play it for half an hour when you're on the train or something.

Maybe not on the train, but on a plane? In a car? At little old grandma's house? Waiting for someone?

Seriously, if you can't imagine someone being in a situation to want to play Persona 3 without sitting next to a stereo, you have a serious lacking of creativity.

And it's absolutely retarded to carry around a second piece of hundred dollar electronics to play music LIKE YOUR FIRST ONE CAN AND SHOULD DO ANYWAY.

Again, Fuuka has a playlist, ask her. hit square while in the dungeon

I can't even think of many PSP games that make use of the MP3 playback function aside from Beats. Or the upcoming vertical shooter Symphony, but that might not be a PSP game. Coming to all the consoles, though.

Fuuka only changes the song while in the dungeon, and only has about 5-6 options. In battle, which is where you spend most of your time, you're stuck.

And a couple non-music games with custom support, the GTA titles (except probably CTW) and Crazy Taxi: FW. I think there's a Tony Hawk game with it too. I can say with certainty that I have played CTFW more frequently, and thus enjoyed the title more, because of custom mp3 support. Without it, I'm not sure I would've sat through the music long enough to recommend it to anyone.
