I hope you realise it's only moronic because people that post like you make it moronic. So far I've seen relativiely mature discussion until a few state "omg not this again -_-" and ruin it for everyone else. So please, you really need to keep the comments out of it if you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute.

the reason why "some people" (pretty much you quoted me) say "omg no this again" is because this topic has been done to death, multiple times over and there really is no need for it.

Like I said already, FFXI and WoW are two different breeds of the same animal, its really silly to compare the two. To be honest, if that third option was there when I voted, I would have voted on it.

First of all, something I've noticed throughtout this forums. You're posts are just very opinionated dribble that actually makes no sense, please revise. Second of all, you have absolutely no authorative of what people can and can not discuss. I don't know what's more sad, that you keep arguing in these threads with nonesense to back you up, or that you actually get annoyed by these threads.

If you don't like it, just ignore it, simple. Let others discuss it. I actually came into this thread with the intent of contributing to it, which I did - just because I made a complaint while doing so means jack shit, so don't pull that fucking card on me.

It is NOT silly to compare the two. They are still the same beast that were released in the same generation. The are both MMORPG's. It is like you're saying you can't compare a pear to an apple, when they are both fruits. I sure as fucking hell can compare a pear to an apple. I can say "They are both fruits, and the pear tastes this way, therefor it is far superior".

Again, most of the time you make absolutely no sense.

It's time to get over yourself and realise there's more to the Internet than just you. Some people haven't discussed such topics before, or maybe they want to continue the discussing. No one is forcing you to read these threads. Well, aside from the tantrum you just threw with Kailea let's look at the first reply to this thread shall we.

Wow Is a horible game IMO...

1: No story line.

2: PvP is based off who has the better gear, and money, not skill

3: You can just sit there, and hit 1 button to kill a monster.

4: Horrible communtiy

5: All about raids, and PvP, even though it is HORRIBLY ballanced.

6: The races look horrible lol

7: It is WAY over rated by the WoW fan boys.

1. There is massive amounts of storyline in WoW. It has huge amounts of lore already in place and is dripping with ways to discover it in-game. Go to many instanced dungeons, cities, and villages and read some of those books lying around as well as all that quest text people normally click past. Or even take a look at WoWwiki and read up on some of the raid bosses you come across.

2. PvP is based off who has the better class. Gear does make a significant difference and it should otherwise what would be the point of gear. That said, rogues will still rape your face in green drops if you're a caster and they get the drop on you just the same way as death knights pretty much faceroll all other classes. Yes, PvP in WoW is stupidly broken but saying it's bad because gear makes a difference is a little short-sighted.

3. Really, which button would that be then?

4. Ah, out of hundreds of servers they all suck and everyone is terrible. When I read comments like that I always wonder if just maybe the person complaining is the one at fault.

5. I'm struggling to think what else it should be about when you reach maximum level. If you don't raid 10/25 man instances, or run 5 man dungeons, or PvP what else would you expect to do?

6. The graphics of a game will always be personal taste, many people love WoW's cartoony graphics, many hate them.

7. The same has been said for FFXI.

As usual, posts on FFXI vs WoW topics end up being filled with opionated and ill-informed nonsense. Those of us who have been around a while and argued for either WoW or FFXI in the past are understandably frustrated whenever we see the same old shit rehashed in another thread.

Personally, I can't stand what WoW has become. I've played the game at the highest level, max character level unlike many who post how the game sucks, raided all endgame content, full raid sets, etc with every new expansion. That used to mean something in WoW, there used to be a requirement for skill to beat content. Lately, or at least since the release of LK, the game has been targetted towards the lowest common denominator. Content is stupid easy to complete now and if it's remotely hard at release you can guarantee it will be nerfed in successive updates which erodes any sense of achievement. That's the price you pay for having 11 million subscribers though, the casual masses dictate how your game develops and the people who enjoyed a challenge are left with the choice of jumping through a few token hoops via the achievement system or to find a different game.

Ok look the whole reason for the post was to get peoples thoughts on both games not really to have them choose between them. The poll was there just to do it, mainly because im bored at work.

It may be *silly* to make a post like this but I wouldnt have posted it if I didnt want to hear peoples opinion.
And there may be other post about the same way but I just recently joined the forum so i wanted my own thread.

And if this topic is so called *silly* and is a waste of a thread then YOU have the option just to ignore it.

instanced dungeons (mixed about this, but mainly like it)
perma riding pets


Things I hate
FFXI:
the grind
limited gui

WoW:
all the "kill this many" quests


is this better? ;p I do enjoy both games, but if I had to choose one over the other it would be FFXI.

and as I said before, its nothing against you, but after the 100th "wow vs FFXI" thread, it does get annoying.

Why do people keep quoting me when I have said MANY times that it is based on MY own experiances. I leveld a rogue up to lvl 50, and by then, it got pretty damn boring, and many of the people who I ran across where rude as hell to me. I did try multiple cervers with multiple characters, and most of the population of the game was rude as hell to me. I'd ask for help in obtaining something, they'd yell at me, an call me NuB, or some shit like that, even though I know what I was doing. I was just asking for help, no need to yell at some one asking for help to kill something, or asking for help to go into a dungeon with them.

It was about MY own experiances, not what everyone else had experianced. Sure, I'll go back to the game if the community was in a better condition, and if the PvP system wasn't as broken, and teh quests where changed. I even did read into teh quests, I didn't skip past them all, and yet I found NOTHING that resembled a story line about the game. Yea it told me about the quest givers, and how they lost their items and what not, but nothing else.

I wasn't having a go at you. Just literally pulling the first response and showing that opinions about a game and true facts often differ immensely. So many people, not saying you, feel that there can only be one MMO to play and as a result all other MMOs are shit by default and are worthy of derisory comments. This is usually the case with WoW vs FFXI threads and why most of us who have posted on multiple ones over the years, initially taking time to post lucid, non-foaming at the mouth responses tend to get a little tired when we see yet another. Hope springs eternal that someone might actually use the search function.

It's a better solution to just stop reading, hit back and forget about the thread if you see it's something you've seen before.

If people had to stop talking about stuff because it has been discused before (even if it wasn't by them) then no one in the world would be able to say anything anymore.

Though it would be fun to tell my grandchildren to stfu and stop asking about the whys of the world because I had already gone through the same with their parents.
