SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
Here's what you may want to do.
Rather than go through Hitgaming for DDS and DDS2, just get Nocturne. $30 and the overall experience is unlike any other RPG you'll ever play..
Though DDS offers a more cinematic experience than Nocturne I would argue that they're pretty similar in terms of gameplay and that Nocturne offers the widest range of customization and challenge, in addition to several different endings.
Note for Karinya:
I expect that if a reprint has occurred, the bastards that run Gamestop swooped in to grab up available copies of all three games and use them to bolster their used inventory at new locations they open up, so those new locations are good places to look. They will open them, mark them used and mark them up to $40 or $50 more than likely, especially with DDS2.
These are the circumstances in which I reacquired Nocturne, if you ask around with people at your local Gamestop within the next few weeks, you may find a copy of DDS2. I've noticed most Gamestop employees go "squeeee" like Raydeus when you mention SMT games, so they'll more than likely be glad to help a fan find the game they're looking for.
I wouldn't dare go through Hitgaming not only because of the price, but because past experience with them came with a bashed game case. Game was perfectly fine, but still, doesn't seem like they handle your purchases with care.

ah the SMT series how I love them so.
I got SMT: Nocturne, DDS, DDS2, P3, and P4. So far I haven't beaten either of them but I did get fairly far in Nocturne. Once I started playing FFXI, my time playing them severely diminished, but recently I'm getting back to them since I'm gonna quit XI soon, so maybe now I will be able to beat them finally. I think Devil Summoner is the only one I'm missing.

Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
There's two PS2 Devil Summoner games, the first is hard to find, but the second is still relatively easy to find. Its also much more refined than the first and has a more substantial main quest.
There were two Devil Summoner games that predate the PS2 series, neither of which ever hit stateside or in the UK. There was a PSP version of the original but the shitheads at SCEA looked at it and said "there's not enough new content here" failing to realize that the whole fucking game was new to the western market.
And then, to make matters worse, Atlus somehow lost the source code to that game. That's the current reason (read: excuse) going around for why we're not getting that Devil Summoner. They could still bring over Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers if they wanted to, though.
EDIT: Amazon.com themselves are now selling DDS2 for $30. I may jump on that when I get paid thursday, as I'd like to have a copy with a case and instructions rather than what gamestop gave me.
Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
I was thinking of picking up Nocturne (It's called Lucifer's Call over here due to copyright issues IIRC) and Kuzunoha Raidou vs the Soulless Army. Both are fairly easy to track down in the UK if you know where to look. I can name 4 different stores within a 5 mile radius that sell SMT games. The only SMT games that are annoying to find are the Persona games since they tend to sell out as soon as they are in stock. Games stores don't order in that many copies of niche market games and the big chains hardly ever order in new PS2 games anymore (Wii shovelware is far more profitable for them in the UK) so the few copies they order in are snatched up quickly by the people who want them.
Not sure how hard the DDS games are to track down here but Amazon always has them in stock. I honestly hate Amazon. I preordered FFXII from there and it still hasn't arrived to this day. I ended up just walking to a store and buying it. I never got a refund them them either.
Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
As long as it's not as annoying as Shadow Mitsuo with his protective shell spam I'll be all right. I mean most of the bosses on Persona 3 and 4 at least make you think "Aw damn that was my fault" if you die. Shadow Mitsuo was responsible for waking up my all of my roommats at 3am when I must have wiped to him for at least the 7th time in a row . Seriously only having enough SP left for one more Mind Charge+Agidyne volley while he was at about 10% HP only for him to spam 2 stages of that bloody shell thing when you mind charge then finish it off and just to make you want to hate him even more, uses bomb on the MC or Yukiko so you have no healers with SP, he has 1000 more HP and is now nuking your party to death happened to me more often than I would have liked
I didn't struggle with any other P3/P4 boss anywhere near as much as I did as that guy although the luck based nature of Quad Converge puts Kuminosagiri was up there and Nyx can make you cry if she manages to charm a healer.

Don't blame gamestop, blame the asshat who traded in the game like that =\
Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
Gamestop allowed the trade-in - mom'n'pop game stores would reduce the trade-in value or not accept the game at all if it wasn't in its original state. Usually the latter.
Gamestop lowered the standard. Yes, I did buy it, but it wasn't a purchase I made happily. I made the purchase to complete the set.
Re: SMT: DDS, DDS2, and Nocturne reprinted, apparently.
yep, I now have a shiny ZOE2 coaster thanks to Gamestop's failure to check their shit (and this being prior to my filling their gap. My backlog is that bad.). I'm hoping they'll take it back, but I'm expecting no help at all.
