    Race mixing in FFXIV???

    This was brought to my attention by another forum poster on another board and he made an observation of how the girl in that pic looks like a cross between a Mithra and a Hume.

    I see a small resemblance but I'm not going to say I agree with this for sure..

    He also stated later in the post that in FFXI there was a Hume/Elvaan NPC. I can't confirm that because in my entire time playing FFXI I can't say I ran into that NPC. Unless I did and wasn't paying attention which isn't rare for me to do.

    That pic was also from when they were calling FFXIV Rapture as you all may already know.

    For all we know that's all been scrapped and at this point I'd consider it irrelevant. Just look how different the models in the trailer are.

      The trailer only showed 3 races.. We know Tarus will be in it just by the logo, but we can't leave anything out since this is SE we're talking about.

      But is there a Hume/Elvaan NPC in FFXI?

        The mixed race npc in FFXI definitely exists, in the WotG expansion. You can even meet both of her parents.

              I don;t think Humes eyes get that big.. the eyes in the pic kinda like like Mithra or Taru eyes.

                      Trailer showed everything but Tarus. The Galka, Hume and Elvaan all show up at the end overlooking the cliff.

                      Also, it could just be a new race.

                        I don't think there's gonna be any race mixing simply cause you'd have to come up with a whole new set of rules for the mixed races. If each race have certain advantages, how would you decide what your mix got? If you accounted for every possible combination, SE would create a different set of race rules/attributes/advantages/disadvantages for, at the vary least, 15 race combinations. Not counting the various claims that there are new races based that promotional illustration. I don't think they'd go that deep into it honestly. I'd think they'd want a clear distinction between one race and another and no blending between them, since that's a part of characterization and uniqueness.

                          I think the stats are the least of their worries. The real problem would be making character models for each hybrid race.

                            I think that it's just that the change in the graphical models look strange to us after seeing the same models year after year. It's looks new, so people don't think it can be the old race.

                              Screw race mixing, let's have fully customisable character selections - look at Aion, you can customise so many features...
