Gamestop preorder bonuses

Anybody else not get them? They don't give them to me when I order and pick-up in the store, or order online and pick-up in the store, or order online and have it shipped to me. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong can't seem to find any information on it.

Do you say "Hey where is my bonus!?" when you pick up your game? Some are given out when you put in the preorder, so when you put in for one ask them straight out "Do I get my bonus now or do I have to wait until the game comes out?"

I always pick up the pre-order bonus and then return the game later so I can keep the bonus without having to actually give money to Gamestop.

I've never had them pull something shady like not giving up the pre-order bonus unless you ask them for it, they've always either just given it to me when I show I pre-ordered or tell me they somehow ran out of them so they can't give me one.

There were a couple times when I used to buy from Gamestop where they tried to cheat me out of a preorder bonus. It was usually a new clerk that didn't know me and they'd claim that I had already picked up the bonus because they remembered me. Wrong move on their part because I'm not one to do that too. I get loud. I also know most of the clerks and the manager of the store quite well because I used to spend a lot of time in there AND a lot of money. (On average at least $200 a visit once a week.) Once the manager was leaving to work for Game Crazy in our area and he told me that one of the clerks I had an issue with was fired shortly afterwards because they found out he was selling people's bonus's on Ebay. God I miss that guy. He used to get me displays, extra bonus's, lanyards, and other assorted freebies.

The one time was for inFamous and I thought it came in the box like the Uncharted beta. Red Faction 3 came with nothing, but the bonus was already built into the game, so I think I read it wrong.

Well always ask about the bonus when you order or when you pick up the game. So what if they say its in the box and you feel like a dork, its better to say something than get the shaft. (Though I have to say some of the preorder bonuses really aren't worth the effort sometimes. lol)

I didn't get any invite to Aion Beta when I pre-ordered. They said that they don't have it or I was suppose to get it with the game...

That's why it's called a BETA... it's BEFORE the Final release of the game comes out.

I would guess most Gamestop employees are either:

A. Not gamers at all
B. Very casual gamers


A friend of mine scammed a Gamestop back in the day when the PS3 was new and there were 20GB and 60GB models. He bought a 20 GB for like $400, went to Gamestop and bought a 60GB for $600, kept the 60GB and put the 20GB in the 60GB box and returned it to Gamestop.

From what I heard, they only opened the box to glance inside and make sure there was actually a console in it.

From still working at gamestop, I 90% of the time forget about preorder bonuses, even for myself on my own pre-orders. We shove them in a drawer, and when a game finally comes out, we forget to bundle it with the item.

I had 30 copies of infamous reserved, and 40 downloadable codes for the new power.

Guess how many I had left today?

Yep, 30.

Oh, and Omni we just got in the beta sleeves for it YESTERDAY, so you might want to go check to see if your local store got the slim dvd case in it. if not hit me up with a PM and I can slide you some codes.

I doubt this is true at all. GameStop has policies that basically lets their employees borrow games to take them home. They're probably not collectors, or people that love the hobby, but I doubt they're casual gamers either.

Never attribute to ignorance what can adequately be explained by sloth. Just as they do not check the function of games before purchasing, they don't check the hardware. How many stories have you heard about someone getting a console that was completely gutted, or had random crap stuffed inside the case? GameStop is not nearly so much a game store as it is a mediator of sales from one person to another that charges exorbitant fees. When you buy something from GameStop, you're more or less buying something directly from one of their customers, with them as merely a brokerage firm that gives limited insurance on your purchase.

Also, that last paragraph was way too well written for an internet discussion on a video game store.

I called 2 stores the other day and tried to get it from them, but they didn't have it.

One store specifically stated that they catered to Console games only. Another store said that they didn't have it at all.
Do I have to go in and show them my receipt in order to get it?

I don't want you to get in trouble for it or anything Inu, it's just frustrating that that specific employee didn't understand that you get the beta before the game comes out.

People need to hire people that have a passion for that type of job. Besides the fact that it keeps them happy to get discounts and "swag" but it also helps with productivity. Well sort of. (I use to work for a videogame retailer for 4 years, and had the best times at E3 between 1999-2004.)(I even went as a VIP member one year, and got free use of the VIP room upstairs)

I'm jealous! As much as I love games, I never seem to get hired at game stores at all, it's kind of dissapointing.

Gamestop pre-order methodology:

Art Book? Swiping that to eBay it (See Persona 4)
CD soundtrack? Packed in with game, no can do.
Plushie? If not boxed-in, clerks are eBaying that, too.
Game content? Maybe, maybe not, we don't get paid enough to buy every game.
