Re: FF7 For PS3 and PSP!

FF8 had a PC version too.

Me, though, if I ever wanted to play FFVII again I'd just emulate it. I wouldn't pay for this unless they threw in some neat enhancements or additions.

WOW SERIOUSLY!? Damn it! I'm going to be selling off stuff and they go and release it for d/l. I have black label sealed copies of the damn game.

As far as releasing this on the PS3, I couldn't be more disappointed. I want a revamped version of the game not this. I have the damn game and I've played it on my PS3 already, so no big OMGZ from me.

As for the graphics, ya the people who've previously played this and loved it aren't going to care. But the new generation of players won't be so thrilled when they decide to try out this game that everyone raves about. They've been spoiled by realistic graphics and when they see the blocky style of the characters....ya they won't bother to play much into the game. Remember many of the fans of this game have an emotional attachment to it. They were young, it was the first disc next gen system (basically their generations system), and the game was hyped ad nauseum. There is a lot of nostalgia attached to this game for them but this doesn't hold for the new generation of players.

Grizzle, you can snag copies of FFVII for the PC on Ebay as usual. Had an lsmate sell his copy recently. It wasn't sealed but it was complete and he got a little over $50 for I believe. Otherwise try some game trading sites. I use www.gametz.com .

So why not download a non-legit copy? It took me all of 7 seconds to locate a working, downloadable copy of FF7 for PC. The game is 10+ years old, no one is going to give you shit for downloading it.

Well, just because there's a PSX version doesn't mean there won't be a FFVII remake. Its want Nomura wants to do after he's done completely with FFXIII projects. He's focused on FF Vs. XIII at the moment.

I guess I just don't like the idea of there being two versions of the game because you know there's always going to be some fucktard purist that's going to rant and rave about whatever they did with the remakes and swear the original release to be the one most holy. Like Persona fanboys are doing right now with regards to its remake, even though we got the one with the shitty localization job and Mark painted in blackface.

As for selling copies of FFVII, I'd do it now while the news is under the radar. If you have copies of Revelations Persona, might want to look into that as well.

Still holding out for a 2D Metroid to be announced at this year's E3 for DS >.<

I've seen some people ask $100 for the instruction manual. The sad thing is people actually bid on it... some guys want as much as 300 or more it's absolutely insane. Go look for it on Ebay if you don't believe me. I'm just glad this is 1 less title I'll have to pay out the nose for on Ebay (already shelved out a decent chunk for Lunar SSS and Star Ocean 3 a while back)

I agree with you to an extent here. It depends on how good of a job SE does. Sometimes it's just not a good idea to mess with the classics (Like when Ted Turner wanted to colorize all the old B&W movies >.> pissed off a lot of people with that. He didn't touch the original films though and I think there were a few movies he didn't dare edit like Cassa Blanca)

Can't say I'd be disappointed at this point, but if a remake weren't released at some point with updated graphics and voice acting I'd feel slightly disappointed.

You know there's such a great opportunity for SE to go and odd online play to Triple Triad in FFVIII if they put it in the PSN version. In fact, they really should.

That or release a FF mini-game collection. Triple Triad, Gunner's Gauntlet, Sphere Break and Rydia's Mathmagical Minute were all great. Though that last one would need a touch screen function. These are mini-games I can just keep playing forever.

Re: FF7 For PS3 and PSP!

Oh I'm a Triple Triad master! LOL I collected all the cards....3 full sets plus lots of loose cards. That way I had one full set for a collectible and 2 sets to actually play the game. Used to play against my son and some friends/local geeks and I was always the champ. I would LOVE to see Triple Triad online! (Though my card sets are in storage right now and I never did check the storage place after we had the big flood last year. For all I know even more of my gaming collection went under water and is ruined. Totally NOT looking forward to moving stuff out of storage next month.)

And yes, there will always be some priss out there that thinks they are better because they played a game when it was first released. They run around on forums saying the game was better, harder, blah blah bah and therefore they are superior. I've played FFVII when it was released and I'd still like to see it graphically revamped and then released on the PS3. I think the game would snag another generation of gamers and make them FF fans if they did this. I don't think just re-releasing the game for d/l is going to do that though.

Did someone mention Triple Triad online?

                      Triple Triad Gold
                      ^^
What I used to play on my computer, I forget if it supports multiplayer or not. The person also added a bunch of new cards to the deck as I recall.

Triple Triad Advance - The Ultimate TT Experience
                      ^^
Haven't checked it out yet, but it came up when I was searching for the other site.

Damn but I loved Triple Triad, they should have added that one instead of Tetra Master IMO.

As for the new FF release... I don't know. I'm getting a little tired of seeing old games with the same graphics for the newer systems at new game prices of $40+

I like that they are bringing back some of the older games, because hey, I love some of them and some of these beat the snot out of newer games. But not at the prices that I have been seeing for them in the stores.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Good point. The prices are ridiculous. If the game was ever a greatest hits at $20, then it should be less than that to d/l imo.

I don't buy this at all. I grew up on PS1 and N64, but I can still have a lot of fun on games made with weaker hardware and cruder graphics. The biggest thing keeping me from enjoying classic NES titles is simply not liking the gameplay; nothing to do with graphics. I think you overrate how important people view graphics. Sure, on newer games, they're biased towards games with better graphics for some reason, but I think most people are willing to overlook poorer graphics on older systems. Not to mention, I think you underrate FFVII-- it's certainly not aged as well as, say, MGS, but it still looks very very good thanks to the excellent art direction.

Certainly, a remake would be nice, and the game definitely deserves it, but I don't think being old is an instant death warrant.

X was a PS2 game. PS2 games have never been available for download on PSN. Furthermore, it would need to be ported, not just rerelased--neither the PSP or newer PS3s are capable of emulating PS2 games. Thanks for playing.

I never owned an SNES, and I would've been celebrating my third birthday around the time it was released. Do you really think that playing it first makes you somehow better? You can fuck right off.

Have to say you're a rare, special case Feba. I've been in and out of game stores a bit in the last two months and overheard guys complaining about how they have a hard time going back to DS or even PS2 kinds of graphics.

I mean, just look at Dragon Quest VIII for PS2. We're talking about a game that finally brought the art concepts of the series to vivid life. And what did people complain about?

                            "Looks like Dragon Ball Z"
                            "Too cartoony."
"I want it to look realistic."

Now, these were all people who had never played a DQ game before, but then I encountered one that had played them back in the day. He saw the guide for DQV and asked the clerk if it had been remade. Clerk said "Yeah, it was recently released on the DS" and that the DS has the best selection of RPGs of the current consoles and handhelds

And he rolled his eyes. He wanted the graphics on PS3, not old sprites. Well, new sprites in this case. Then he went back to complaining about how there are practically no RPGs on PS3. Well, they're not going to come from DS to PS3, buddy, gotta go where the RPGs are if that's what you want.

Now, I think the kids these days are a bit more open-minded. They have smart cheap-ass gamer parents who only buy stuff from previous generations for them. I still see kids with Game Boy Color o.O At one used book store, there was this eight year-old looking at the original Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow begging his mom for them. Those weren't even in color and he wanted them.

There are lots of flavors of gamer and many of them way too stubborn one way or the other.

And people like us Feba are the exception. I'll rephrase it for you "ya, the majority of people...", but I stand by it. I work with young people and part of my strategy for getting them to open up is gaming, most kids can relate to it and its a "safe" subject. The new generation isn't as forgiving as we are.

I still have my discs, so unless there's new Cutscenes and dialogue tweaks to the atrocious localization, not to mention fixing the sundry plotholes introduced by CC, then it doesn't concern me. It's great for those without a copy, though.

How well it's aged? Eh. Graphics for me really aren't a big deal. Some of my favorite games are NES and SNES games. Any 'old' game I don't like is generally for a game-play or genre reason, and seldom has anything to do with graphics. Though, I will say, Summoner had atrocious graphics, and it wasn't even that old. Story-wise, the localization needs serious work. And as I already mentioned, fixing of plotholes and general inconsistencies. The Tseng we know now through the Compliation is not a man who would bitchslap Aerith in the church. That whole bit needs to go. Cissnei, what the hell happened to her? I have a girl-crush on Cissnei. I want to know where she went. There's no feasible reason to believe her dead, and I like her a hell of a lot more than lolElena.
