Re: Possible leaked Trico footage.
1- SOTC was hardly a mainstream success, it just made it farther than Ico did. And how much of that is people finding out about Ico too late? How many of us can't find a copy, but would pick up one on day one if Sony would reprint it?
2- Action is not bad. Putting action in your game does not mean you're selling out, especially when the content of the game is as it is.
3- It was a great follow up. What you want is more of that part of the story. There's nothing wrong with that, but don't confuse the two.
4- I haven't had the opportunity to play Ico yet, but the situation you describe seems pretty obvious: They go adventuring out in the world; whether metaphorically or literally. Sometimes you want the story to end on a hopeful view of the sunrise and a face to black.
5- I'm pretty sure there's at least one very concrete link between SOTC and Ico, involving a complex platforming trip on the tower you start in.
6- Given that we know there are links between the worlds, and the game tends to lean towards speaking for itself and being vague, you're jumping the gun a bit on saying its horrible. It's not hard to imagine that the events in SOTC are very important to the rest of the series, and needed to be portrayed before the series could continue. Sorta like MGS3.
For all we know, he is.
