Re: By the way, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Remakes Confirmed

I've lost the cable to my AR so I don't have any of the codes for Platinum. It's a pain since I now only ever have one copy of a TM instead of as many as I need.

And never expect any sort of fair trade on the GTC. People are greedy and expect to be able to have a perfect Lv100 Arceus the second they boot up the game.

Re: By the way, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Remakes Confirmed

I pretty much figured, that's why I'm going with the approach I outlined. There are people expecting level 100 Legendaries for their level 5 Chimchars. I'm just going to catch, breed and exploit the popularity of OUs to fill out my basic roster. I'll get what Legendaries I can from within the game first and worry about stuff like MewTwo later on.

Though I don't know what all is obtainable from Platinum so far anyway.

Re: By the way, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Remakes Confirmed

If you have Fire Red or Leaf Green you can get Mewtwo from that. It's actually possible to get multiple copies of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres in Platinum since they are both catchable in Platinum and transferable from the old games.

When you beat the Elite Four and obtain the National Dex (allowing you to get entries on Pokemon not found on Sinnoh) and you unlock an area called Pal Park. Basically it lets you transfer six pokemon per GBA cart per day by plugging it into the GBA slot on your DS and you go out to catch them Safari Zone style. All of the balls you have have a 100% capture rate.

The Pal Park feature means you actually can get every pokemon onto one cart legitimately and without having to resort to using an Action Replay cart. The *only* two pokemon you can't get legitimately are Celebi (Was only ever available in Japan in Gen II but will probably change when HG and SS are out) and Arceus (there hasn't been an event for it yet).

Note: If you're gonna go around catching Legendaries in Platinum bear in mind that if you have a Pokemon with the Synchronize ability (easiest one is Abra) at the top of your list (even if it's KO'd), then there's a 50% chance the Pokemon you're catching will have the same nature as the Pokemon with Synchronize. So you force a useful nature on your Legendaries that way.

            IGN: Get Fit with Pokemon

They're issuing a new version of the "Pocket Pikachu" with Gold and Sliver in Japan. This isn't a new concept, as they also sold these on the side with the original Gold/Silver, but it was only limited to Pikachu in-game and offered limited bonus to the game.

It was a pedometer (god I hate that word), that gave Pikachu EXP as you walked around and a special currency called "volts" you could use to buy various things. The new version is also a pedometer, but this time you can upload any of your Pokemon from Gold/Silver to this device and as you walk about, the same concept applies. I imagine it will also raise the Pokemon's affection this time as well.

              I have the same issue every time someone says "lolibri." >.>; Don't so much have a problem with pedometer, though, seeing as I already strongly associate the "ped" in that word to mean "foot," like in "pedestrian." If anything "pedophilia" should really only mean "foot fetish," although then we'd have to go about either renaming or reworking all the pediatric clinics. <.<;; Etymology gets confusing with false cognates and junk like that. v_v;

Sweet. It would be cool (in an incredibly geeky way) to walk around with a Vulpix everywhere.

As much as I like Pokemon, I most likely will never pick it up again, unless they release a MMORPG of it, and we all know that will never happen ;p

Yeah, it would obviously be a Multiplayer online RPG/dungeon crawler instead.

Re: By the way, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver Remakes Confirmed

I think the only way a Pokemon MMO would be practical would be to integrate them somehow into the handheld versions of the games. It would certainly get around the "event" BS they pull to keep certain Pokemon rare by having actual events people can do in-game rather than going to a mall and being one of the few adults there for the rare Pokemon.

But then, the current iteration of DS games does add to the persistent world feel they've been going for since Gold/Silver. The online interactions are limited, all an MMO version would do is constantly convert hacked pokemon to Dittos and make it easier to communicate with other players. Given the bizzare expections of actual players, I don't know how much I wish to communicate with them.

There is a homebrewed pokemon MMO, but is basically just a hacked version of the GBA games and its not by Nintendo anyway.

Closest you could actually get to a Pokemon-style MMO right now is Shin Megami Tensei Imagine Online.

                    ------------------------------

Back to Platinum. I caught Rotom last night and activated the subquest to get the secret key that allows me access to the hidden forest and somehow fully unlocks his abilities... now where the heck is that? Deeper in the game?

ok so OT slightly how do i catch Mew or HO-OH or celebi or all of the currnet 12 that are said to be event only without a gameshark then? The events are over and i would love a squad with Lugia in it as well

Ho-oh and Lugia can be obtained from Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, respectively. Purify all the Shadow Pokemon and complete all Mt. Battle fights for the opportunity to face off against Ho-oh. Couldn't tell ya the requirements for gaining Lugia in XD, though.

If you want Mew or Celebi, your best bet is to fly to Manhattan, visit the Pokemon Center, and download the two to your game. So far as I know, that's the only way to get them without waiting for a special event.

Okay, these 'tiers' of OU and so forth, that are 'banned' from regular play or whatever. Are these restrictions built into Pokemon itself, or is this some arbitrary Pokemon overlord-wannabe community deciding who should and shouldn't be used in a competitive game? If it's the latter I'm going to have to lol. I know the Legendaries and such can't be used in VS, but Allakazham?

Most of the fansites, no matter how hardcore, have very little legitimacy to me when they walk around acting holier than thou about hacked Pokemon and the like. Some of us have better things to do than drive hours to events or fly to NY. And then going so far as to decide who is legit in VS? lawl. Whatever.

OT: This makes me excited. G/S were definitely great games. Though I did enjoy D/P just about as much. And a new Pocket Pikachu, huh? :p I still have both of mine. The original and the GS one. Batteries are dead, naturally. But being able to level one of my other Pokemon while I walk forever at work is win. I work retail and am all over the place, especially on weekends. And Espeon is far cooler to be toting around than Pikachu.
