Re: More of SE's Bullshit (FF 13 Demo)
Good business sense is immoral now? SE has learned that a non-FF title will fare much better on other consoles in American and EU territories than it will on a Playstation console in the same territories. Sony fans are as ignorant about SE's other games as Nintendo fans are ignorant to the existence of non-Nintendo games on the Wii.
All western Sony fans care about from SE is Final Fantasy and they've proven it over and over. You think Kingdom Hearts would have made it this far on Sora and some Disney characters? No, its because Final Fantasy has a part in carrying the franchise.
Sony probably knew that no amount of money would buy GTA's exclusivity now. They want to pretend that exclusives aren't important, but its thier failure to secure other exclusives that's hurting them now. But when you make a console that's more expensive to develop for than either of your competitiors and you support a handheld to boot, devs are going to take the approach that makes them the most money.
Blame the creator of the series, really, he's the one that has made all the calls for the radical shifts in the series. But then, the Mana series was never really that good to start with. C'mon - Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger: which is really the most cherished here? SE didn't even do much for the latest release of Chrono Trigger because it was a near-perfect game to start with.
That's thier right. The way Xenosaga ended up actually has more to do with trying to fix what wasn't broken to start with. Not to mention the creator left in a fit with Monolith and Namco just like they left in a fit with SE.
Its on 360, you have a 360. You probably could also play it on PC, as its out on Steam. Putting it on Steam was probably the best way to build some street cred for this game, seeing as it would only tank on PS3 since its not a FF game.
Blame SCEA and thier wonky approval process. Hell blame Sony, MS and Nintendo for nickel-and-diming out older content to us. I don't see why any of them hold back so much of it. Maybe they're afraid it will distract people from the newer downloadable games, but I think those fears are unfounded.
Oh yeah, I'm really butthurt about the $10 I spent here. No, I'm more concerned with the fact that newer content is accessable to more players, but the RoZ endgame content remains as decrepit as ever, despite minor improvements here and there.
Its not about the drop rates for me, its about the massive time expenditures. Its about having no real ability to ensure your Dynamis runs will happen. Its about pissing away up to three hours of my in-game time camping an HNM for nothing I need when I could be getting other things accomplished. This content simply needs to get with the times or they need to put some of the rewards in more contemporary content. Relic could easily be retconned into WotG endgame - people from the future wearing relic have done campaign. Hey, worked for ToA and WotG gear in Dynamis! Like we couldn't find some lying around a present day version of Grauberg.
And the sad thing? I used to look at Sky as the major grind. Its much more fun than Dynamis or Kings because there's actually progress. Things get done. Its sad that leaders even have to withold where Dynamis is happening to LSes, but I understand why they do it - people won't show up if they say its not northlands.
I would love to do Dynamis - if i didn't hate it so much. I'm not alone in that sentiment, either.

The core of it probably still lies with the much lower sales rate of the PS3 vs the 360 but I blame whatever absolute moron (being generous here too...) decided that not paying Rockstar the $50 million they wanted to keep GTA 4 PS3-exclusive was a good idea. Yes, let's not maintain a monopoly on the best selling video game series that has been proven to sell consoles.
I'm also just mad at SE in general.
- They've just about destroyed one of my most treasured series (Seiken Densetsu; they're even considering abandoning the franchise altogether)
- They've just about destroyed one of my most treasured series (Seiken Densetsu; they're even considering abandoning the franchise altogether)
- They refused to give up the rights to Xenogears even though they publicly stated that they have no intention of using the license ever again for any new titles (hence the way Xenosaga turned out)
- Absolutely no word on what's happening with the PS3 version of The Last Remnant (likely cancelled)
- FF7 released on PSN but Japan only
- ACP (nuff said)
