Pulitzer Prize winner George Will thinks gamers shouldn't be allowed to vote

Washington Post columnist and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist George F. Will really, really doesn't like denim. In an Op-Ed piece he wrote for the Washington Post this week, he condemns the fabric and in the process, harshly insults gamers, saying, "Seventy-five percent of American 'gamers' -- people who play video games -- are older than 18 and nevertheless are allowed to vote."

On the other hand, Mr. Will does, however, love making disparate correlations -- for instance, between "society's most slovenly" and video game players. In fairness, his tirade doesn't solely focus on games, as he also calls out the Indiana Jones series and television shows such as Seinfeld (a show which, ironically, he was lampooned on as "not too bright.") He says the two are "juvenelized,"and for "undifferentiated audiences," and justifies his assertion on the fabric ubiquity from child to parent. We're thinking of siding with Seinfeld on our opinion of this guy, how about you folks?

So because we enjoy video games (and apparently Seinfeld & Indiana Jones) we shouldn't be allowed to vote? I would very much like to hear the reasoning behind this tight wad's logic.

Personally I'm betting 12 year old kids on XBL kicked his ass

I think that was the type of attitude that got him to think of "gamers" as such in the first place.

Thanks for fulfilling the stereo type Malacite.

I think it would've been more effective if the guy had targeted Feba directly.

I am genuinely curious though how this prick came to that conclusion though. The man's probably just an elitist douche bag, but all the same it would have been intriguing to have heard his exact reasons for such an outlandish statement.

There are far, far worse things people who can vote do than play video games and watch Seinfeld reruns. You'd think a writer of all people would put up a more tangible argument.

Ignorance, lack of understanding, etc. it's the same old usual stuff.

Just because the guy had something published or whatever history he has in politics that doesn't mean his reasoning is any better than that of a your average close minded person.

Heck, it might even be worse than average precisely because of it. Not like it actually matters anyway.

Actually, I don't like denim, I haven't worn jeans in years. I never cared for Seinfeld, and I've barely watched Indiana Jones. So, one out of four there, buddy.

This guy sounds like he has some kind of phobia for neoteny. I'd hate to know his stance on body hair.

                            Just read the editorial.

God, that was brain poison. Worse than than reading YouTube comments that aren't related to Susan Boyle.

I don't wear jeans, I'm a khakis kinda guy. Kind of a habit a fell into once my jeans kept coming out wet in the dryers in college, never fell back into wearing jeans.

But I still wear T-shirts and like Batman. I'm wearing a Decepticon T-shirt with my khakis, I'm wearing boots and I have a DSi in my pocket. Haven't shaved a in a few days, but I can find the floor to by bedroom and apartment in general. This guy reminds me of how my parents would act when I went to church dressed as such. Like a deity is going to care about my clothes.

If this makes me slovenly, so be it.

Sad that we still live in a society that judges completely on appearance, but at least the whole world got to feel like an asshole last week when they did that.
