      Not sure I want to watch these...

      Normally I don't care about it and LOVE videos but... for some reason, I want to wait for that Blu Ray to come out here (I hope it does anyway...) and get it with an NA version so I can experience it 1st hand.

      And if what I read from 1UP is true, all the more reason; the game's story is going to be along the lines of Final Fantasy 6. FUK YA! ^^

        Heheh, I clicked play on the video Pai posted but then stopped after like 5 seconds. And I thought I was the only one.

        The copy I ordered should get here next week so I'll just wait till then.

          Here's a version of the trailer with a good job on subtitling it for English, it gives a good explanation of the gameplay system.

          I think I'm just let down by the art direction on this one. Its like Nomura didn't get over his FFX design kick or something when we know he's capable of doing more distinguished styles. FFVII, FFVIII, Kingdom Hearts and The World Ends with You all have distinguished looks from FFX. FFXIII doesn't look that far removed, just like a cleaner version of FFX.

          The battle system seems just a tad disappointing as well, borrowing heavily from concepts done in Super Robot Taisen and Xenosaga. I'm sure it will be good, but I just tend to expect FF battle systems to be a little more innovative than this.

            It all depends on how higher lvl skills and magic will chain with each other (and among characters), because the demo doesn't let you chain that much as enemies and abilities are pretty weak.

            I'm still replaying the demo, but I'm liking the game/battle system so far. Even with the Star War-ish Zanarkand setting.

              I'm not entirely against a juggle system, its just they can be a bit tricky. If there was a battle system to rip off, though, I'd be going for Persona 4's over anything.

              BTW, you need to get Super Robot Taisen OG Saga Endless Frontier, I have a feeling it would be up your alley.

                  Well, given that SE usually reinvents the system and s comes up with something innovate each time, I tend to expect something a bit more than what we're seeing here. Pretty much every game to date in the main series has had innovations of some kind.

                  FFVI had the Esper System, FFVII had Materia, FFVIII had Junctioning, FFIX had an esper-esque system, but applied it to weapons and armor. FFX removed EXP, made it strictly turnbased and had a paper/rock/scissors kind of style (Wakka and Lulu best for flyers, Rikku best against machines, Auron for armored mobs) and then the Gambit system in FFXII.

                  I've seen this kind of system in a few other games, though. A character gets a set amount of actions for a turn and certain actions cost more than others. If you can get member's attacks to cross over while the enemy is in the air, you can do more damage and extend the combo.

                    I'm finding it pretty tough to pull off, but I assume once party members can be controlled (in the full game only) it'll be much easier and more effective to pull off launch combos.

                    And if you're bugged by the setting, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that most of the game will probably take place in Pulse, not Cocoon.

                      Launch combos with the limited demo skills feel more like a gimmick (but they sure aren't.) And I'm seriously looking forward to fighting a bunch of enemies like in the E3 2006 trailer.

                      Specially if they add some Dissidia environment context commands, I remember one of the soldiers Lightning launches in that fight actually hitting the ceiling and recieving extra damage Dissidia style. Not to mention slow-mo.

                          I'm not against a juggling system, at least not yet. Although Xenosaga II was a disappointment for me in most areas, I thought that the battle system fun enough on stronger enemies to make it enjoyable.

                            Xenosaga II kind of hatched this style, it just wasn't implemented that well. It evolved a little in Namco X Capcom and most people who played that say it was perfectly very refined in SRT OG Saga. It can be a bit tricky, though and enemies in that game like to pull out bullshit evasion skills mid-combo if they get close enough to the ground.

                            It would be a little trickier to maintain such combos in an ATB system, that is, unless you can skip right to the ally with the most Turn Points available. Also depends on how quickly Turn Points refresh and how stuff like Haste and Slow are implemented.

                              Yeah. Jury's pretty much out on the implementation of the battle system until the near-final builds, which is a bit of a shame.
