Persona PSP Remake Confirmed: News from 1UP.com

Seems they're mostly going to keep it faithful to the original look and storyline, but with a new additional scenario, updated soundtrack by series composer Shoji Meguro, cel-shaded cutscene but the guy who did them for the FFT remake and updated gameplay (hopefully meaning the One More System)

Its Atlus, so I imagine it will be, but any word on when and if its coming to the US?

Could become the second game I'll buy for the PSP.

Well no US confirmation yet, but Altus knows they have a cult following out here, so I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing it. Especially since people took so well to Persona 3 and 4.

They did have a PSP remake of the original Devil Summoner (not the ones with Raidou Kuzunoha on PS2, the Saturn ones only released in Japan), but that never made it over to the States. But then, it kinda was around the PSP launch in Japan and it wasn't upgraded much from the original, so perhaps that's why they never brought it here.

I suspect Persona's popularity will get it over here, though.

Also just saw this added to Magic Box

Atlus also announced Growlanser for PSP, a remake of the original PSone tactical RPG from 1999. The PSP remake will have new characters, stages and improved battle system, and the release date is May 14, 2009.

Looks like Altus got their hands on the Growlanser IP, which means the series might actually get a chance. Previously it only came through Working Designs to the US and SCEA seemed to have something against them and the games they wanted to put out. Given that this is in Atlus' hands now, SCEA will likely accept it if they choose to bring it to the US.
