Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2

Atlus is pretty shrewd about remakes. Its entirely possible they could port something like Persona 4 to Wii, but they actually have the original Super Famicom version of Shin Megami Tensei on VC for Wii in Japan.

The thing is, they don't think its worth the effort to localize it for VC in the US on Wii. This may be partly due to the masszively pirated and fansubbed version. They may very well not make money off such a venture.

Of course, remaking it entirely would change things, but no word yet. I have a feeling that since PSP is getting Persona, that Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment could be merged for a Persona 2 for PSP.

As for Widescreen, I don't see anything about it in the manual for Persona 4.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2

Just wanted to make a note of this in case anyone gets curious about these SMT games:

With the exception of Persona 3 and 4, everything around Devil Summoner 2 in the SMT franchise has seen the price jacked up on sites like Amazon and eBay. This happens a lot when new SMT games come out since that one game might lead interest into other installments of the series. This is kinda why new new installments are Day One purchases for me now, I don't want to pay more for them down the road.

So stuff like Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, Persona 2 and previous Devil Summoner titles will see a substantial price increase,. this may continue through the next couple of months since another new SMT game lands on DS in June - Devil Survivor.

And then there's Persona remake for PSP this fall.

On an unrelated note, some Atlus-published games are now seeing very limited retail release. Steal Princess for DS is one example. This is a title Atlus is publishing for Marvelous Interactive. Gamestop isn't even going to stock it, though GameCrazy is and you can also find it on Amazon. It ships next week and you'll probably never see it on a shelf. This game is a platform puzzler and a level editor and you can trade levels with friends over NWFC.

So games published by Atlus - in addition to the ones they produce themselves - are games to keep an eye on. If something like Knights in the Nightmare or Crimson Gem Saga piques your interest, I suggest grabbing it ASAP because who knows if you'll even see those again.

Though in the case of Magna Carta - burn it on sight, no one should be exposed to the horrors of that game. Its the worst thing Atlus ever published and as wretched as Xenosaga II or DMC II.

          Product Description
Fethering's favorite sleuths are at it again as Jude and Carole Seddon find themselves in the midst of some horseplay, after stumbling upon the body of ex-equestrian Walter Fleet at Long Bamber Stables.

The police attribute the stabbing death to the mysterious "Horse Ripper," who's been mutilating mares across West Sussex-and who Walter obviously caught in the act. But considering Walter's track record out of the saddle, Jude and Carole find that there are plenty of suspects- including Walter's put-upon wife and more than a few jealous husbands who wanted Walter put out to pasture.
TGM, I might spoil the ending for you, but everyone in the book is a horse!

Seriously, Jude, Carole, and Walter? Seriously.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2

This isn't a real spoiler just something funny I saw before I fused away one of my demons:

"Our time together was an unexpected journey. It was like being shot... through the heart with an arrow... while skydiving."

The fusion elements are pretty cool, as you fuse more and more, this time you're allowed to select the passive traits a demon has. So no you just have to fiddle with the random nature of fusion to get the skills you want rather than the traits as well.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2

Feba, just as a heads up, I've noticed that over the last couple of weeks that both Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 have been creeping up in price across the board. It looks like its starting to become rare.

I still seen new copies at most Gamestops, but its only like one or two at most, I see that changing soon.

When Persona for PSP comes out, P4 will likely skyrocket in value.

Brief aside: I've seen people spazzing hardcore over the reworked soundtrack for Persona PSP. Shoji Meguro started his tenure at Altus with the original Persona, but not all the tracks were his. Seems they couldn't get those composers back for the remake or just didn't want to pay more people, so Meguro has replaced their tracks with his own new ones.

More or less, Persona now sounds in-line with P3 and P4, but the emo goth kids who think the original Mortal Kombat-esque battle theme is good are wretching left and right over it, crying "J-pop" at every turn. But then, these are the same people who liked the Americanized version of Mark.
