Jeebuz... did you see the bonuses people got for the Persona 4 pre-order? Wish I had known about that one.

Any word on Megami Ibunroku: Devil Survivor for the DS? Its looks like a spin on the Super Robot Wars kind of SRPG, but replacing the robots with SMT demons and setting it in Tokyo as usual.

Well, they used to have other SMT titles called "Devil Summoner" before they rebooted the series with Raidou as the lead character, so I guess the extensive subtitles are there to reduce confusion.

Difference between this vein of SMT and the rest as that the battles are all action-based rather than turn-based. And there's no negotiations between Raidou and the demons, he just catches them at their weakest and traps them in a tube, which might as well be a pokeball.

When they released Raidou Kuzunoha Vs. King Abbadon in Japan, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition was released right alongside it. The difference in this reissue was Dante was replaced by Raidou. Dunno why they had to take Dante out, why not put both in there for more crossover goodness?

Kinda wish the had reissued that here. But then, Gamestop probably would have ninjaed all the copies off Amazon before decent people had the chance, just like they did with Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga the last time.

My only complaint with Atlus is putting this shit right in the hands of greedy Amazon/eBay resellers. That and doing all these deluxe editions with Amazon. But then, I rather would have had Persona 4 Social Link Expansion pack than a hybrid Jack Frost/Raidou plushie.

They basically swap Dante out and Raidou has some similar moves, but also some different ones.

The thing is they kept Dante's Theme for his fights. Weird.

Things like this are kinda what makes the series fun, though. Raidou and the cast of Digital Devil Saga have both faced off against Hitoshura (Demi-Fiend) now. You can fight the Demi-Fiend in Digital Devil Saga's second play-through.

Starting to wonder if that SMT teaser you showed last year was for the new edition of Nocturne.

Two new SMT spin-off franchise games confirmed for US (Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner 2) and the remake of Persona will surely come stateside, but no word on a PS3 title as of yet.

Maybe something will come to light at E3 or next TGS.

Nah, the teaser ended up being for Raidou.

"Shin Megami Tensei 4" was announced long ago for PS3 long ago, but nothing has been even mentioned since the brief, official announcement.

I'm hoping Atlus does do a re-release of the first PS2 Devil Summoner, if their pattern is anything to go by, we should be due for a reprint of that soon.

I was gonna go pick up the "Gamestop Edition" (crappy box, no instructions) for $9, but it consisted of a 35 mile drive out of town. Amazon sellers aren't being very detailed as to whether their used copies are gimped or not and no way in hell I'm paying over $40 for anything less than near-mint condition with box and instructions and I'm certainly not paying $30 for just the disc.

I love how GameStop and online auction/retailers have collectively lowered standards in how games are sold. Totally lame.

I am recollecting DDS 1&2 in the meantime. Wish I had been able to grab the reprint over the summer, but copies still seem to be in decent supply and fairly good condition.

Well I ordered a package they had on Amazon.com. It had a t-shirt, plushie, calendar, and 1 or 2 other things that I can't remember. I talked about it on a couple of forums and received offers to buy it from me for $150 because I guess they went very fast and a lot of people didn't get in on it. So now I won't wear the t-shirt and its why I wanted the package in the first place!! LOL

Oh I see. Then it's ok, Persona is among the games I can't buy directly from Amazon US anyway.

Plus the only goodies I actually look for are the soundtrack (P3's OST is awesome) and sometimes artbooks or posters.

I pre-ordered. Got no P4 art book.

And the clerks always geek out when you buy an SMT game at Gamestop, so you know the lil fuckers are probably just hoarding them for eBay

Clerk practically wet herself when I picked up a copy of DDS2 the other day. Pity I didn't catch its rerelease, but I have both games again. They're up next after Nocturne. I think I only have one or two endings I can get, I'm gonna have to replay for the others.

I just got Dante and to the second boss in the Diet Building and got totally pasted by him. This is an RPG franchise where outlevelling stuff does not mean shit.
