I guess I don't like looking at a big grey box that reminds me Im cheap everyday, every time I use it. But it's not just computers for us. We have the whole wireless apple house,Mini's, Tpwers, Laptops, iPod Touch remotes, Airport connectivity on all docks and iTunes shared to all the TV's/projectors so for us it's really about putting a third rate component (a PC) into the system built out of First Rate components and watch it not seamlessly integrate.

yeah, having a shiny case really makes computers so much better. Why, my laptop cost $400, but if I had only spend another $900 I could have one made out of ALUMINUM instead of PLASTIC!

And really, the "Dell" logo makes me look like a freakin' pauper. If only it were an Apple logo, I would be supercool! And it's not like I could use $900 for anything anyway. I mean, only $1300 for a laptop? That's not too bad! It's only enough to buy two laptops, a desktop (with monitor and accessories), a net-top (to connect to the TV), and a portable device for playing music, movies, and games! A laptop or a home network? I think I am going to have to go with the cool kids on this one!

Yeah, I'm sure a PC not integrating seamlessly into a network of Apple products has everything to do with it being a 3rd rate component and nothing to do with PCs not being Apple products.

Many people have their computer in a living room or other central location. Since not everyone lives like a slob the way things look in their home is important to them.

And who said you need a mac for that? I believe its just a cover for a bunch of chips and wires and all that juicy stuff. And the covers come in many shapes and sizes too! And pretty colors if you want.

So, because the desktop computer I have in my den/living room is NOT a Mac, I'm a slob? I didn't realize that having a neat and organized PC on a tasteful desk that hides the cords and the PC tower itself was still bringing down my entire room. All the other design choices I made are sullied by my sleek black moniter. I might as well turn in my gay card, as slovenly and disgusting my living room is.

Honestly, this whole thing reeks of (no offense to anyone who owns and enjoys macs in this forums, unless the following statement does apply to you, in which case, take all the offense in the world) snooty apple fanatics who just feel so terrible for the poor unwashed huddled masses who have not seen the light that is licking Steve Job's anus. Some of you make it sound like I'm banging two rocks together to count since I prefer having a PC to a Mac. I'm sorry, but your shit may be white and shiny and sleek, but it still stinks.

I never said you needed a Mac for that. I took issue with your statement that caring about how things looked in someones home was shallow.

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there are going to be those that prefer the athletics of a Mac over any number of more generic Windows boxes. As such, they would indeed require a Mac to have a computer look good in their home.

So apparently not being worried about how pretty your living room looks is now something slobbish. Well I'll be a slob then, there's a lot more going on for me to be worried about that.

I still think its shallow to buy something simply because something else leaves you feeling "cheap" about yourself. Buying something that goes well with the color of the curtains, now that's just fine.

But I know feeling cheap degrades your status to that of the bottom of the food-chain and that can simply not be!
