Wiimote strike 'killed' dog, saved by neighbor's mouth-to-mouth - Joystiq

A Michigan woman nearly killed her dog when she accidentally struck it in the temple with a Wii Remote. Kathy White was playing Wii Sports' bowling with her daughter when she made the motion to roll her virtual ball and, as she puts it, hit the dog and "killed him instantly." The dog, Ozzy, was not moving or breathing. She called her neighbor -- who we're guessing must have some veterinary training -- and she revived the dog using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Ozzy was then taken to the real vet, who diagnosed the dog with "severe brain swelling" due to cardiac arrest. We've heard of Wiinjuries before (both possibly real and fake), but this is the first instance of potential "caninicide" we're aware of. Yeah, I have whacked my dog before with the wiimote, nothing to that degree though. I think it hurt my hand more than my big Lab's head. You gotta be careful with that thing.

My roommate also knocked out a visitor while swinging my Rock band mic around like Mick Jagger but I've never heard something like that before. O.O

Did they include that Wii-saber with Clone wars? I heard the game was kinda bad.

But still, I wonder how many pets/kids will get lightsaber'd for not using force fields at home.

Wow...Clearly another reason why I hate little yippie dogs, and full feel that family's that have them should get cat's instead. My boxer has hit my Wii remote with his face before, and he just thought it was part of the game.

EDIT: Also, wtf is that woman blind? There's a warning at the start of every game that explicitly states you should be careful of others around you when playing.

That warning totally helped the people that threw their wiimotes into their TVs.

It's never necessary to swing the thing around so hard, but people are going to do it anyway.
