You know. Dissidia... has impressed me so far. Its shaping up to be quite epic... I SERIOUSLY hope it delivers...

Now i still need to get me a PSP...

It does more then deliver, it takes your expectations and impresses nearly all of them. There's a suprising amount of strategy involved, and each character has a quirk about them that makes them unique, yet makes them all, for the most part, useable (I say this currently unable to do anything with Squall since his reach is horrendous.)


Also, Bartz is extremely fun to play as, and I've found Terra to be quite interesting as well. I'm kinda let down about how Zidane controls though, you'd expect him to be the fastest, being a THF and all.


Edit:Just unlocked Shantotto's story, the map theme is the Windurst City theme, and the battle theme is Party Battle when you're in a Dungeon from the original game I think. Not too sure.

You know what I just thought of as odd? While story wise it makes sense considering the events of FFXII, did anyone else catch the fact that a JUDGE is the Chaos representative for FFXII?

Even in FFXII, the Judges were a representation of Law, regardless of how skewed it may have been at the time (or not, depending on if the player actually sympathised with Arcadia, an easy conclusion to draw). Traditionally, Law was the obvious antithesis of Chaos, but I guess this time, the unintentional irony in and of itself will make for an interesting story.

Still, there's a reason why Lawful Evil exists. Judge Gabranth would indeed fit that role to a T.

And we have the chaotic Shantotto on Cosmos's team. They are the dots in the yin-yang I guess.

Edit: On second thought, Zidane is chaotic and Mateus us lawful. The chas vs order thing isn't really there, it's jsut "good guys and bad guys".

I got my ass kicked by Sephiroth and I gave the game to my son. I was WAY too addicted to it! I was going to stop after the prolouge but didn't. LOL I told him not to give it back to me no matter what. Well last night I knew it didn't matter, I'd never get it away from him no matter how hard I tried!

Let me tell you, Shantotto beating the living crap outta Garland, Jecht, Sephiroth, and ExDeath is a hilarious. That said, her HP attacks are horrible. Easily predictable and they don't add much Brave. Her Ex-Mode is also fairly weak, but her Ex-Burst can do some insane damage. Unlocking Gabranth right now, I'll offer my analysis on him in a bit.

Alright, played as Gabranth for a little bit, and my impression so far is that of an "All-or-nothing" character. When you first start the match, he doesn't have his helmet on, and moves only slightly faster than Ex-Death. His Brave Attacks won't do much damage and he lacks a HP attack. Needless to say, he's rather useless before Ex-Mode.

However, square charges his Ex-Gauge, and when he hits EX-Mode...well, the best way to describe it is as a "Berserker" style character. He attacks fast and furiously, leaving little openings in his attacks. That said, his cool down time for Brave Attacks in Ex-Mode is slow, so you may want to get into the practice of dodging right afterwards.

His Ex-Burst is a version of the special attacks from FFXII that used Mist Charges. You keep pressing R until the name lights up, and then press circle to watch Gabranth rip off his brother's specials, and then it ends in a concurence depending on what level of special you reached. (1, 2, and 3)

Edit:Oh, and I forgot to talk about Shantotto's Ex-Burst. It's a simplified version of the Magic Burst system, where you use Ancient Magic from a list on the enemy, ending in a Magic Burst. The best damage you can get is if you go around the elemental wheel in order, starting with Flare. Basically, people who play BLM on FFXI will feel at home with her Ex-Burst.
