  • 2008 Holiday Video Game season

I think it's fair to say at this point, oh my fucking god, there are so many fucking games, oh hell, how the hell are we supposed to keep up with all of them.

Let's complain about how the world is just too awesome sometimes together, and talk about how we're dealing with this.

I'm sort of lucky, in the sense that having a condom break and later finding out that you didn't get HIV but you are pregnant is lucky, because I'm a Wii owner. Not much coming until early next year.

I've started off by getting a somewhat old game and an extremely somewhat old game off Amazon-- No More Heroes and Final Fantasy VIII. For around $32 including taxes and shipping, and compared to buying it locally, I can honestly look at that as a B1G1F deal, which is pretty good.

There are some Wii games that are coming out before New Years that I'm interested in; mainly CODW@W, ToS:DotNW, SWA (Ok, ok, now I'm just being a dick. Sonic Unleashed), and Skate It. With the exception of DotNW, I'm expecting most of them to fall well short of 'great' games, but I am hoping they're good.

I'm also very interested in Persona 4. I don't know if I'll buy any of the above games this holiday season, considering I've become a frugal bastard in regards to games, and if I were to buy a game regardless of how cheap it is at this point, it would be Metroid Prime 3 (which is getting somewhat cheap, for a Nintendo title)

If Sony fixes the PSP-3000's screen, there's a good chance I'd pick that up too, and probably two-three games for it.

I like that strip a lot. To tell the truth I don't buy a game that hasn't been out for a least one year. I think the latest game I have is Hotal Dusk: Room 215. Many reasons for that, most people don't agree with those and I couldn't care less as this is working out for me.

That said, I still like to see what's new. Last year there were awesome holiday releases but this year nothing got my attention. Not saying that those aren't great games, it is just that none made me say "ME WANT THAT". I mean, strangely enough the only one that I found a little interesting was Wrath of the Lich King which is just an expansion.

I have all 3 platforms and won't be able to get started on any of these until late January. ;l

      Banjo-Kazooie: N&B
      Banjo-Kazooie XBLA
      Mirror's Edge
      Sonic Unleashed
      Valkyria Chronicles
      Tales of Symphonia 2
      Portal: Still Alive
      World of Goo
      Mega Man 9

Also still want to start Oblivion, and catch up on WotG missions since before last update.

That's just what I can think of off the top of my head.

Have no idea how this will happen. Other than it probably won't.

Mirror's Edge looks to be a pretty good game and I hear Mega Man 9 is fun but hard as hell lol. I also want Vigilante 8 Arcade for XBL on 360. I hadn't played a Vigilante 8 Game since I owned my Dreamcast and on there I had both V8 and V8:SE. I kinda wanted Fallout 3 but I might wait a bit and get it around christmas. I think before I buy anymore games I probably need to beat Disgaea 3, get my CoPs and Zilart missions straight, and level THF to 37. I guess I'm looking forward to Dec 23 since I'll get almost 2 weeks off from work to accomplish this task. Last December when I had my time off, I took SAM and NIN to 37.

Mines of Moria and Animal Crossing: City Folk is probably the last things this year I've got my eye on/am going to bother to buy. MoM is already on Pre-Order and AC will be soon, whenever I get five seconds to breathe long enough at work to go down there to do it.

Mega Man 9 is only hard the first time through, just like any classic MM title.

So far I have to say the DLC for it is a bit of a rip off, but at least it's all fairly cheap.

I just went ahead and placed a pre-order for Mirror's Edge, I probably shouldn't be spending money on it at the moment but the free runner's bag they throw in kind of coaxed me into it. :3

conversation with g/f while I was playing the demo went along the lines of:

<Me> Holy shitfuck I need this game
                    <g/f> When's it come out?
                    <Me> Thursday.

                    <Me> I'll fit it in!
<g/f> You're about to get laid off.
<Me> Exactly, I'll need something to pass the time when I'm jobless.
<g/f> You said you were going to save money just in case.
                    <Me> I am!

This is SO totally me. LOL So Pai posted a link with a $50 off coupon on Dell's website off a 360, so I bought one. I thought I'd give it to my daughter for Christmas but it seems she doesn't want one now. So now I have another 360 and hubby is going....why!?...WHY!!? and I'm just going "WHOOOO we should put a tv in the bathroom!" LOL

Then this list of games came out and I'm like "Oh cool my birthday is Wednesday so I'll take this...and this...OOOHHH and THIS ONE!" and hubby is "ALL OF THAT FOR ONE BIRTHDAY!?" So we were talking about supper today and I was distracted and said "Oh whatever I don't care. Pull the lasagna recipe and get the ingredients." so what does hubby do? He comes home with some hamburger and Hamburger Helper lasagna and says "Well consdering all the games you want for your birthday this is all we could afford to get." Ha ha ha he's just a riot isn't he?
