Sadly with a game like this it'd be more like you login dead minus about 50,000 XP deleveled by a level or 2 depending on how much XP you had in the first place. All your gear and gil is on your mule (So of course you think its all stolen), you have no buffs on except Reraise. Lastly when you reraise you realize you are alone standing in front of Pandemonium Warden...

OK I'm confused. Did she delete the character or kill it?

Because seriously, dieing in an MMO is pretty common....wth are the setbacks of dieing in maple story? Your computer explodes?

Good question, I wish my friend that plays it was online atm I'd ask him. He plays FFXI but he plays Maple Story and Silk Road sometimes too. I remember when you die on Nexus Kingdom of the Winds (Mind you I haven't played that game since 1999, 2000ish so I might be a little rusty) you dropped all you gear and items and turned into a ghost, I think when you die people can come pick up all your stuff to but I don't remember. I only had the trial version so I never found out how you resurrected, I only played it for a few hours lol.

                That would piss me off.

Again, don't share your login info, or if you do, change your password after you break up. Duh.

LOL in the case of it being an SE account, they'd say, "That's nice, but sorry it's ur fault she knows ur password." I wonder if any chargers would be brought up over here in good old USA?

Possible 5 years.... damn. I think 5-6 months (max) would be enough to make sure she never does it again, as well as satisfy the exhusband. I can understand however if this involved mass amounts of real life currency or something, but no word if it does. I personally would rather have all my game ID's deleted, video games set on fire and systems smashed than go to prison for a month.

MapleStory does have RMT IIRC, so it could potentially be a huge loss to the husband.

Regardless of how much was lost, and whether it was a character being deleted or just dying in-game, (that article was horribly written/translated) it's still a crime.

It doesn't matter if someone just breaks in, watches your TV, and then leaves, or if they break in, and burn your house into ashes. Breaking and entering is a crime either way. Of course, you can seek additional compensation for damages in an arson case, but those are separate crimes.

What gets me is it wasn't even her RL husband. Just a in game relationship. It's pretty pathetic that you can get arrested for that over there. I guess the "It's just a game." spiel is meaningless in this case :3 I would hope there wouldn't be a case over here. He gave her the passwords. She used her computer to log into his account.

The 'breaking and entering' comparison doesn't hold water here. Since he gave her the password its like giving someone your house key. The whole thing is ridiculous to me, quite funny too that they actually spend money to fly her over to where the in game husband lived so she could face charges there. It's just silly. What's next?
We know the characters aren't real, we just don't care. :3

What I want to know is who calls the Police if they log on and find their character dead? .

If I found out that someone else had been on my account I would be calling the bank to have my account frozen incase my bank details had been stolen. My character being dead would be the least of my worries no matter how much I like roleplaying her .

You can get arrested for it here, too, buddy. Unlawful use/access of information systems is a crime pretty much everywhere, in the first world at least.

It's still a crime. If you give someone your house key, you might be reckless or even stupid, but that doesn't give them the right to just enter whenever they please. It especially doesn't give them the right to enter, damage your property, steal it, or destroy it. You own the house, if you catch someone there who isn't supposed to be there they can be charged under the law, and yes, imprisoned.

Just because you left yourself open to it doesn't mean it's not a crime.
