    And loading screens too, yes, those need to die. If not completely destroyed, at least make them few and far between, and well hidden (see GTA). Metroid Prime also does a good job of hiding loading screens (by not interrupting gameplay). This is also kinda linked to saving-- you should be able to at least save and quit at any time. Save points can be used for challenge, but sometimes you just need to DROP THE GAME AND QUIT.
    That's why more games need quicksaves. I would venture maybe 15% of the games that use savepoints have quicksaves as well - it should be 100%. For those who don't know, a quicksave is a temporary save that deletes itself when it is loaded, so you can stop playing if you need ot, but you can't reload form that point after you die.
