PSO is not and was never an MMORPG.

How so? I've always thought of PSO as one. Maybe because it's offline as well as online?

Its peer-to-peer, meaning clients host the games, not the servers. The servers in PSO are a matchmaking service and nothing more than that, as nothing else but annoying chat and moron fill the virtual lobbies. Also, people can dupe like crazy and no rare is actually rare.

Also, you can only actually play PSO with a few other people, you do not exist in a world of massive scale with other players. They have thier little forest to go kill rappies in, you have yours.

I see! I hadn't really thought of it like that it was rather minimalistic (that a word?) but for something that only had about 13-15 actual levels the amount of hours I poured into PSO makes me weep :p

Still, I hope that this new iteration of the the PSO style game does well but a monthly fee will absolutely cripple it. It'd be nice to have Phantasy Star 5 instead mind.
