Most Hated NPCs in Games

So I've been playing GTA Vice City lately, pretty much the only PS2 part of the trilogy I didn't finish and I think I've found my most-hated video game NPC.

Lance Vance.

I used to keep Tingle higher on my list of loathed characters. I think it was because he usually came off as some creepy child molester dressed like a fairy of the woods. I didn't like buying his maps, I didn't like freeing him from a jail cell, the friends you made in the Oracle games didn't like him, either. The only time I liked him was when I was kicking his ass for items in Four Swords Adventures.

But Lance Vance brings it to a whole new level. This guy has been run over by so many cars, shot me in the back so many times and runs too slow. I thought he was supposed to be helping me, but he doesn't seem very helpful. Other GTA characters have not shot me in the back by mistake. He has a hard time getting in the car, too, I think I would have beaten this "Cop Land" mission days ago if it didn't take forever for this retard to find the car after we rush out of the mall.

Rosenberg should be more annoying, but he's actually funny in a neurotic kind of way.

I didn't like Penelo from FFXII much. She's not annoying, but more of a "why are you still here" kinda charactrer. She doesn't really add much of anything. On the opposite end of the spectrum was FFVIII's Selphie. If I could have let her, Irvine and Zell die in a fire, I would have, but they were all useful in some way.

Yeah, Tingle used to annoy the crap out of me, too. Apparently the JP players rather liked him, though.

I also got really sick of that stupid owl in Ocarina of Time. He got old on my FIRST playthrough of the game. And well, I love that game enough to play it over and over again, but dealing with the owl was just frustrating.

Then there's the "Ned Flanders" Taru in Windurst (name escapes me)

As far as GTA goes, I can't stand Roman from GTA IV. Also, pretty much all the women you date through the course of the game, especially that one stuck up chick, the one always referring to herself in the third person...I know she was intended to be annoying, but damn. And God forbid you accidentally roll the car while you're taking her out lol...

The owl in Ocarina of Time. Everybody in Twilight Princess but Telma and Midna. Rinoa, Quina, and Rikku.

Kefka. I never understood what people saw in him as a good villain. He was annoying on the Team Rocket level of annoyance. It was cute maybe once, after that I was like 'meh.'

Terra. I know this was before the term 'Mary-Sue' was a big deal, but by the time I got to VI, she carried every classic trait and symptom of it. And I couldn't be prevailed on to take her seriously no matter how hard I tried. In fact, VI is probably one of my least favorite FF's, though I adored Celes, Leo, and Shadow.

Tingle fails. He scares me.

Brother for being an incestuous weirdo.

Zhuge Liang. Yes, I know he's real. I don't much like him in reality either. Utterly over-hyped.

Vaan. Penelo. 'nuff said there.

Liara in Mass Effect. *shudders*

People like Kefka for the same reason they like the Joker. He's self-absorbed, a sadist, a nihlist and has a dark sense of humor. He's not funny "ha ha," but he's amusing because of the incredibly dark things he says. He just likes letting you know he's evil incarnate.

When I hear lines like "Just because I have the joy of killing your family inside me doesn't mean we can't be friends," or "I prefer killing people with knives more than guns, its more intimate. You see, when people know they're going to die, they're more honest than they ever were in thier lives. Would you like to know which one of your friends was a coward?" Its creepy, disturbing and pretty damn arrogant all at the same time. That's the Joker and that's Kefka.

I didn't like how other villians became patterned after Kefka in the "frequent thorn in your side" kind of way. Kuja and Seymour Guado tried to be a Kefka and you really got pissed at them because they were just emo, not funny. Sephiroth didn't make frequent appearances like that, he probably just killed the cameraman.

Ugh I forgot about Seymour, that guy gave me the heebie-jeebies. I was actually a little sick when I saw him kiss Yuna. Though I can blame that on being pregnant at the time.

Actually now that you remind me, I did hate Seymour. Something about his presentation was awful. Like, you can tell he's a bad guy in disguise from the very beginning, and he is. Way too transparent! And they just don't characterize him well enough. I couldn't really feel any kind of sympathy for him so he was just an annoying, persistent bastard. At least your last fight with him has some neato-burrito music though.

Edit: Also, I hate his hair. Ugh.

I forgot about Seymour's very existence. Thong-boy's, too. Yeah, they suck.

Seymour's running around with his Happy Trail half exposed was enough to induce nausea. Nevermind his bad character overall.
