Actually they changed that a while back. You have to have gold now. I know because my brother was fucking mad that he couldn't get demos anymore on this 360 with his account. I have to DL them for him since I have gold (which a friend paid for as a B-day gift ^^)

Wrong. Right from X-box's website it says under the Silver Membership:

"Download extras and demos."

My spare 360 only has a silver membership since my main has a Gold and I am able to d/l demos on both machines. Sounds like your brother has something he should look into.

That's incorrect. But I still think the comparison has some relevance to the situation discussed here. :3 If anything, they're both a hit-or-miss among gamers.

Obviously, as this thread has shown, people will pay for it. Like the article mentioned, people did the same thing with GT5 Prologue. Heck, a ton of people went out and bought the full Creature Creator for Spore. There is market precedent for it and obviously there is a demand. It's a smart move on SE's part to take advantage of a growing trend in gaming. If anything it's a sad commentary on the industry in general.

Regardless, if you're upset at them for charging for a demo then simply don't buy it.

Which brings me to the bigger picture; it seems these days people are willing to give in more and more for something they "want".
