Err how do you intend to finish your 12 save on a PS3? Last I knew, you had to create a virtual memory card on the 3's HDD. it doesn't have ports for memory cards. Or is there some machination that allows you to transfer saved data to the HDD via USB?
There is an adapter for PS2 memory cards. I don't know if they released one in the U.S. but I have an official JP one.

"1UP: What made you finally decide to leave Square altogether? Was it just that you wanted more creative freedom or you didn't want to be tied down to Final Fantasy projects specifically? Or maybe you didn't like the direction the company was going in when they merged with Enix? What made you want to break out and form your own company like Dog Ear Records and Smile Please?
KY: [In Japanese] This is probably the question that everyone wants to ask the most...
NU: [In Japanese] The answer's not going to be that exciting.
KY: [In Japanese] I haven't even asked it yet. [Laughs]
NU: It's not exciting at all. I don't even know if you're going to be convinced with it. It's because the SquareEnix office moved from Meguro to Shinjuku.
1UP: Uh-huh.
NU: And I never really liked the Shinjuku space, and I was so comfortable being in Meguro. Where [Reiko and I] live is actually farther away from Meguro, so to go to Shinjuku and make that commute even by car would be over an hour, and it just wasn't the right place for me. I felt whenever I stepped out of the station in the center of Shinjuku, I felt I lost direction, and it's always crowded and you can't breathe the clean air. Compared to Meguro, that wasn't the environment that I wanted to be in.
1UP: I accept that answer.
NU: One alternate answer I can give that would make it a bit more legit and business-oriented is that as I moved up the ladder and it became more of a seniority thing, I got pulled into a lot of meetings during the day, and I never got to spend time focused and concentrating on making music. So being grabbed in different directions and not being able to spend time within the company to make the music, I lost the concentration. My decision was "do I want to stay at a company that's going to require a lot of non-creative time" or "do I want to continue to make music?" So continuing to make music was what I wanted to do and what I decided to do."
He didn't like the new place and he ended up in a senior position that entailed a lot of work he didn't want to do. So he left to create his own companies so he could work the way he wanted to. What happened isn't all that different then what happens to a great deal of people.
Like all things, it's not usually some big evil corporate conspiracy.
Re: What do you consider "FINAL FANTASY"?
I should point out that some franchises do just fine without thier original creators.
Fire Emblem springs to mind, the creator left that franchise due to differences with Nintendo long before western gamers ever got to experience the series. It seems to do just fine.
Jak III had nothing to do with its creator, it was better than the first two games.
Uematsu left SE because he wanted to just make music, simple as that. I can't blame the guy. He's a composer at heart. Sakaguchi was a different case, he blew a lot of money making a flop CG movie he named "Final Fantasy."
But he's made some pretty darn good games since leaving SE. Lost Oddessy has recieved extremely high praise and Blue Dragon did fairly well, too. If you want games with those guys making them, there ya go.
If anything, i really think its Kitase that's bringing the series down, FFVI and FFVII were his peak and he hasn't come back since.
Nomura is pretty good with storylines, almost on a Kojima kind of level, its just his gameplay ideas aren't as sound as his ability to weave a good story.
The team that made FFXII was the team behind the Tactics Ogre series, Vagrant Story and the FFT games - Matsuno was thier leader, but he left because he became really ill. They seem to be moving on well without him, though.
Could Star Wars move on without George Lucas? Probably, actually, definately when I think about Episode II. KOTOR was better than Episode I and II. Let those guys in as writers, they know Star Wars pretty good.
Star Trek went on for several more years after Gene Roddenberry died and there's a new movie coming, it was just a matter of ditching Rick Berman, who was bringing the who franchise down as of Voyager and Enterprise especially. They just needed to get someone in charge that knew how to take the series in its intended direction instead of ripping off Farscape.
