Today on the PS.Blog, Insomniac Games revealed the upcoming RESISTANCE 2 collector's edition contents. For the last month, IGN has been taking a poll on three different boxarts, and users we able to choose the one they liked the most.
The Collector's Edition, which comes packaged in a solid looking box featuring exclusive artwork, comes packed with content. First is the game itself, with the CE-exclusive boxart chosen by fans, as well as a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes footage, a digital copy of the premiere issue of the RESISTANCE comic book, as well as a preview for the upcoming novel. Next up is an exclusive artbook that looks at 1950s America as we knew it, and the 1950s America that Insomniac Games created, after it was decimated the continuing depression and the Chimeran invasion.
Finally, the set also includes an exclusive Chimeran Hybrid figure, created by DC Unlimited. The figure is poseable, carries a Chimeran model Bullseye rifle, and can also be equipped with a Chimeran model HVP-Wraith chaingun. In addition, the CE comes with a code for an exclusive HVP-Wraith skin for your in-game online character.
RESISTANCE 2 launches on November 4th, 2008 (Election day! Vote Chimera!) The Collector's Edition will retail for US MSRP $79.99. The game follows the story of US Sgt. Nathan Hale, after being captured by American Black Ops soldiers after his victory over the Chimera in Britain. After Iceland falls to the Chimera, he escapes with The Sentinels, a group of soldiers who carry the same resistance to the Chimeran virus as himself. Upon arrival in America, Hale takes lead of the Sentinel's Echo Squad and prepares to fend off the oncoming Chimeran invasion.
Insomniac's James Stevenson also detailed the upcoming Open Beta Program. Beginning at the end of the month, Premiere Access will open to those who preorder RESISTANCE 2 at Gamestop and yearly subscribers to SCEA's QORE PSN Magazine. Open Access to the beta will begin at a later date. One can apply online at beta.myresistance.net, or by purchasing Episode 3 of QORE. The Public Beta, like the Private Beta, will include both 60-player competitive gameplay as well as 8-player cooperative play. Unlike the Private Beta, it will feature a newer, better-looking and better-running build of the game.
The Private Beta is still ongoing, and new players are being added regularly. Keep checking your e-mail to see if you've made it in.

And GTA4's was awesome too...in fact I bought 2 of them! LOL I wanted one to keep sealed and one to use the lockbox and bag. I will give you the Halo 3 one cause the helmet though cool was fairly useless but GTA4's rocked. Best one I've seen on these shores in a while (though personally I'm a fan of figurines since they take up less space and space is at a premium in my house!
