Saints Row 2 Collector's Edition shipping in gun box - Joystiq



"THQ has revealed to Europe the Saint's Row 2 Collector's Edition bundle, which appears to come with the game, some posters, a 1GB USB stick in the shape of a bullet and some kind of ... gun. Eurogamer explains that "the box is shaped like a gun," but we can't tell from the picture above if the gun comes out of its casing, or if it's molded to the box. The publisher also tells the site this special edition is only for Xbox 360.

We're not exactly sure about the SR2 Collector's Edition for North America, so we'll have to wait and see if THQ announces this same bundle for the region. Sadly, nothing involving porn star and "special producer" Tera Patrick will be included in the box. The boys and girls of Saints Row 2 are expected to shoot up the streets of Stilwater in October."

Ok I know it doesn't say that it DOES come with a gun but the packaging has lead people to perceive that. I think THQ is stirring the waters and trying to get publicity. If any soccer moms find out about this all hell is going to break loose in the politically correct crowd.

Seems like it's just the shape of a gun on the lid/side of the case.

Soccer moms will still be pissed anyway.

Eesh, I know many places in Europe are a lot stricter with gun control, even fake ones, then the US so I doubt it's an actual prop gun.

Ironically, if soccer moms are going to get so upset about buying their kids a game that comes with a fake gun...maybe they shouldn't be buying their kids a game rated 18 and older. But then again, things like logic and reason usually don't enter the minds of people who would complain over something like this.

Ironically, if soccer moms are going to get so upset about buying their kids a game that comes with a fake gun...maybe they shouldn't be buying their kids a game rated 18 and older. But then again, things like logic and reason usually don't enter the minds of people who would complain over something like this.

Kinda silly to get worked up over a gun in this game. Not when you're missing hot, naked asian... er.. yeah... Not sure why you'd want to get worked up over the gun when you're basically buying your kids a game where their goal is to shoot other people and commit crimes. Throwing a grenade at that hooker is fine, but god help you if you've got a fake gun on the box.

Were the tiny bee controllers released in the U.S. even? I don't think they were though I really don't know since I keep a closer eye on JP collectibles than the U.S. ones.

I think they had limited release in the US, I recall seeing some at EB games around the time the game was out.

This is probably wandering off on a tangent, but when I see an item like this, my first thought is usually that they're deliberately trying to provoke someone into protesting. A "there's no such thing as bad publicity" approach.

When I see those protests though, I tend to see these people acting out: "I'm not a very good parent." Or, "I'm worried other people will see me as a lousy parent." It never seems like it's the content or the context so much as people have this odd need to be seen as being better than they are. If you buy your kid this game, or let your kid buy this game for themselves, you are a lousy parent. Face up to that fact. Protesting the game is not going to cover for the fact that you're raising a future stripper or as Jeff Foxworthy puts it "someone with their name on their shirt". Why do the people most vocal about "Family Values" always seem like the sort of people we least need to be breeding?

I think we ought to dump the "Christian Right" and their view of the family as a failed project. It rarely works even for them. Let's look around and find a new model to slavishly idolize. One that actually creates the kinds of citizens we seem to want.
