Kailea, if you can find anyone more iconic of Final Fantasy XI than the infamous Lady Shantotto herself, then please, be my guest. And I'm saying this as a San d'Orian: while Trion would have been nice, he would have just been generic male sword-fighter #10. Shantotto is a far more interesting pick than that.

While I am overjoyed that FFXI is getting representation in Dissidia, this begs the question: who on Vana'diel is going to take the Chaos side?

Naja! We all know she's evil! XD

Joking aside, the obvious guess is probably the Shadow Lord, maybe the CoP final boss.

In all honesty, I wasn't expecting Shantotto to be picked at all. Trion I agree would have been just another sword fighter. Zeid would have been interesting, and I would have been very interested in seeing Prishe. Naja would have been hilarious to put in there if you ask me, but thinking on it Shantotto is a pretty good and unique choice of sorts. I'm looking forward to hearing how she's voiced (especially that laugh of hers).

                Re: FF: DISSIDIA Gameplay movie

I would rather it was either Prishe or Naja instead of Shanty, as they both made as much of an impact on the players as the latter did (besides, Shanty was Windy's "main" figurehead NPC, with Trion for Sandy, and Volker for Bastok, none of which I really find all that outstanding or unique). I have to agree with Kailea: Shanty's overhyped. Yes, I've seen her in that one fight with the mini Khimaira, but Naja and Prishe aren't slouches themselves, judging from their fights as well (and they don't run away when they get to a certain point; it's all or nothing for them).

Shanty's actions in the BLM AF or Windy Rank storylines aren't really as impressive as some of the other mages I've seen in the Windy Wings missions. Fort Karugo-Narugo. Robel-Akbel. That's all I'm sayin...

I could see them wanting to use a character from FFXI core storyline and thus, no Prishe or Naja. Lion however... >.>

Though I think Zeid would've been awesome.

Who needs two dark knights? If they already have Cecil they don't need Zeid.

                        Brutal, but true.

On the other hand the whole magical side of the series is seriously neglected by the line of Sword Guy #485s, so a mage is a nice touch IMO.

Chaos side will probably be Shadow Lord - he's more iconic than either of the Zilart or Promathia, particularly since he's also probably going to be involved in the end of the WotG storyline. (And Shantotto apparently now will have a new storyline of her own...)

So, if they can include XI and keep it a secret up until now, do you think they're going to include XII too? XIII? (If it's developed in parallel and all they really need is the character designs and some combat animations...)
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
                        RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Cecil is a Paladin in this game, as what he really is for the most of FFIV

Cecil can switch between PLD and DRK unless the trailers lied.

Cecil is still the original DRK, even at the end he has the emo to prove it. Once a DRK, always a DRK.

Glad they picked Shantotto, since they needed to get further away from sword-based characters anyway. I wish there was more job-class variety, though. Kain, Sabin, Quistis, Rydia, Wakka or Setzer would have been nice. They could have just pulled Setzer right out of Kingdom Hearts II and elaborated from there.
