No, the difference ISN'T just marketing.

I was very clearly speaking of first party titles. And yes, of course there are games that aren't on Wii. That doesn't mean that Wii doesn't have games.

Wrong. It's using the same formula as Halo-- push the console to its limits, and have great controls. Whether they succeed or not is obviously yet to be seen; but it's a solid concept, which people obviously love, and which can do very well.

and neither one has been officially announced anywhere except Japan. Given Nintendo's I-hate-Europe stance, and their "we'll release it in the US whenever we get around to it" policy, I'm not holding my breath on either of these titles arriving until there's a release date set.

Angry much? First of all, TOS isn't even a Nintendo game, and it's announced for Nov. 18th. Secondly, Nintendo has been pretty good about releasing more games in NA recently. I see little reason to believe they wouldn't localize it reasonably fast. Heck, even SSBB, which seemed like FOREVER, was only a couple months.

and it's not because I'm not looking for games on the Wii - they're JUST NOT THERE. I'd LOVE to be able to order some games for my Wii. I really would.

Yes, it really is. You're obviously very pessimistic about Wii games, and honestly if you want to have that sort of attitude you'd be best off selling it and using the money to finance games for other consoles. Even if the only improvement is in your mind, if you're unable to care because of your biases, that's simply unlikely to change.

But there's nothing with even a tentative release date that I can put money down on and say "Yeah I want that".

Side note, but there very rarely should be. I think the only game I've ever preordered was Vice City, and that had other benefits, in addition to basically having no possible way to be worse than GTA3, because it was the same in most ways. Like I said, there are plenty of games I'm interested in, and keeping an eye on, but taking a wait-and-see attitude works much better than putting down money on a game and hoping it's good.

The only reason I turn my Wii on these days is to play Wii Fit.
Yes... Wii Fit.

However I'd probably end up getting Wii Resort just for the additional MotionPlus attachment. I'm not sure what else for Wii for now. Been getting a lot of crap games for it and havn't been playing any. Brawl against other people has been a disappointment for me since I always get a time out or something like that while playing.

Fat Princess - Need I say more about that one?

Little Big Planet - Yeah I'll probably get this one too for my PS3

Rock Band 2 - Anyone want to buy the old drum set from me? I'll probably get the Ion set just so I can have the cymbals attached.

LBP will supposedly ship with various tools for making machinima; such as direct Youtube uploading (a new feature also found in Pixeljunk Eden and SOCOM Confrontation) and voice recording, so that brings it another step closer to being the Garry's Mod of consoles.

And thanks for reminding me, Ayrlie. Disgaea 3 will be worth picking up next month. Thank you NIS for keeping the last-generation price tag.

Isn't Spore doing this too? I hope more game companies (or even something like a console firmware patch) decide to do this. Would save a lot of hassle when trying to record things.

I agree, it sucks for a lot of fans because Disgaea is like the last series on the list of games that people would upgrade to next-gen consoles for.

By the way, the latest issue of Famitsu looks like it's teasing the next Shin Megami Tensei game.

It was added to the PS3's SDK a few months ago but so far only a handful of developers are choosing to use the feature, as the recording option does take up a healthy bit of the PS3's memory. As Sony continues to lower the toll on the systems resources, I'm sure more and more developers will embrace it. James Stevenson of Insomniac Games said it's something they're interested in patching into Resistance 2 once it becomes worthwhile in terms of memory, something they did with the first game and the PS3's screenshot tool.

Oh well, looks like its time to save for a PS3. Given Atlus never really followed through on SMT: NINE on Xbox, I'm gonna assume this will be a PS3 title.

The black cat could really mean anything, as the black cat is a recurring image in many SMT spinoffs. Not that I don't mind the spinoffs, I'm just hoping for another main series title. I'll gladly take another spinoff, though.

Atlus does like to reuse a lot of the assets of thier games in future ones. One next-gen SMT game more or less means there will be plenty more SMT games to come. I kinda do hope they keep the cel-shaded style, it really worked well for Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga. Not that a realistic look would be bad, I just like the character art of the series the way it is.

Different developers, but it would be cool to see a SMT game using SEGA's Canvas Engine.



While Valkyria Chronicles is a pretty bright and colorful looking game, this kind of look with a darker mood to it could do great things to a SMT game.

I really hope it's not the next Persona for PSP or PS3 since we already know those are coming, but that seems unlikely given P4 just came out last week in Japan. Shin Megami Tensei IV was confirmed for PS3 back in 2005, but Atlus hasn't said a word about it since then, so I'm hoping this is a re-announcement and revealing for the game.

If they do another Persona after Persona 4, I'm hoping for remakes of the first two Persona games.

Still on my SMT kick, Nocturne was beating my butt last night. Gonna reacquire DDS and Devil Summoner soon hopefully.
