I point out again that he actually had to cut material from MGS4 because all 50 GB were used up. Now then, explain how you can make FF XIII for PS3, fill up the disc, and then transfer all that to a single DVD for the 360. And now you see why I'm upset.

Compression. They've never actually said that FFXIII will only be one disc. With 3-4 discs they can probably get close.

With White Engine abandoned, everything that FFXIII could have been for PS3-only is not even worth thinking about. Even still, the PS3 version is still the point of focus and they're not going to start major development of the 360 version until after that's finished. This ensures that both versions will be solid, as many devs have pointed out that it's much easier to port PS3 > 360 than 360 > PS3.

The game's not even in development yet. By the time it's out (2010-2011 is my guess) it'll be an important multiplatform title, but at this point it's pretty irellevant. If you're upset that the PS3's lost a major exclusive, which you shouldn't be (multiplatform Final Fantasy is such a cool thing, IMO), just keep in mind that there's plenty of time for more great first-party exclusives by then. That's what Sony is focusing on, not third-party exclusives.

I don't think the white engine was completely abandoned, they just call it Crystal Tools now... who knows what that means.

Also, after the first trailer, they said the battle system wasnt yet decided... but there's a second trailer and it's still the same... Pai is usually a great source of information on these kinds of things but I must ask for the source from where he got that info.

It doesn't matter how much people piss, whine, and moan, games on multiple platforms is not going to go away. They make more $$ that way and, in the end, thats all that matters to the publisher. What I would like to see is every publisher have a forum set up for feedback so that all the people could go there and let loose.

Actually, I'm pretty sure a few publishers do. I believe Capcom and Atlus do, which might be related to the fact that they are FUCKING AWESOME.

I've also seen some smaller devs interacting with customers on 'their turf'; Budcat talking about Blast Works (answering questions, giving advice; in general being VERY helpful) on GameFAQs comes to mind.

I think what Pai means is that S-E stated that what they have of the game only functions on their PCs and can't be run on any console system at this time. They are already taking auditions for VAs in Japan, so its coming, eventually.

how many times I gotta say I'm mad from a quality standpoint? You just can't put on a DVD what you can on a Blu Ray disc, and the PS3 has stronger hardware too. But then SE's been hovering around the o'l drain for years now and likely did this out of necessity (Making FF13 just for PS3 would have likely hurt them very badly financially, depending on how much work and resources would be put into it)

I lost faith in Capcom. Putting MH3 on the Wii and not releasing MHF2G in America were extremely asinine decisions.

This is a thread about SE, though, and they're trying to maximize profits, so I can't blame them.

SE goes and manages to fill up the 50 GB of space with game content. so many months later, they begin work on the 360 version... and realized they're screwed since it's DVD format (8 GB limit) and somewhat weaker tech specs.

They either cancel the whole thing, or start making huge cuts from the game so it fits on the DVD. 360 owners buy it and find this out, and soon after SE has a lot of angry people on their hands.
