I enjoyed Assassins Creed very much. It was worth every penny of my $60. It was beautiful, I enjoyed the story, I loved the gameplay, and have no regrets. Every game has its let downs whether the camera has a little quirk at times, or the storyline stays with the tried and true, you have to do some grinding, etc ...no game is perfect. AC wasn't perfect but it was worth it.

Difference of opinion. I happen to side with the reviews personally;
Horrendously repetitive (even the towns all look exactly alike) and a stupid ending. I'd rent it, but wouldn't buy. Ubisoft rarely makes games that are good enough to buy (Like Rainbow Six Vegas and even then)

Ubisoft makes the quite excellent Prince of Persia series, which redeem them somewhat. I don't care for most of the rest of their offerings, though, it's true.
I'm thinking of getting a PS3 early next year, too. The only problem is there is absolutely nothing out for it right now that I want.
Oblivion I own for the Ex Bawks (and hell, it'd be better on the PC anyway. Mods are lovely things.)
I hate platformers with a firey passion
I dislike most shooters
Folklore looked very 'meh'
Drake's Fortune didn't catch my interest in the least
LBP would be fun to mess around on, but I'm looking for a major RPG with a really deep and dark story here. Aside from possibly XIII (which is coming out when again? lul) is there anything remotely like that for the PS3 yet?
Or can I expect anything like that relatively soon? If not, I may just wait for the inevitable XIII/PS3 bundles.

Resident Evil 5?
God of War 3?
I won't criticize your taste in games; I only know I've got more games than I have time to play on my PS3 right now.
Telera: MGS4? It's the major thing right now keeping me from completely ignoring the PS3.
If you haven't played 1/2/3, pick up the essential collection for PS2. If you're not hooked on it after finishing those three, there's something wrong with you.
I dunno, MGS isn't my thing. I enjoy watching it be played, but I don't think I would really enjoy it enough to physically dedicate time to playing it. Give me the novelization and I'd be all over it. I think the last thing with guns in it that I even enjoyed was Mass Effect, and that only because I like sci-fi. (What we need is a game set in the Firefly 'verse...)
There's a rather large chunk of games I like to watch others play, but can't stand to play myself. Yeah, I know, that makes no sense. RE, MGS are among them. I actually enjoy the pitifully written story to the RE games. Lickers amuse me endlessly. And whatever happened to Steve? But when I sat down to actually *play* a RE, I found myself much more bored. CoD4 was nice to watch, too. I'm even enjoying pestering my brother while he plays the Left 4 Dead demo... but I'd never play it myself. I bore very quickly of gun-games. I tried Halo once and got so bored I resorted to running my siblings down with a Ghost... even that didn't entertain me long.
I think the problem is I actually like story more than gameplay, and if I can get the former without bothering with the latter (especially if it involves guns, lots of jumping, or ridiculous amounts of stealth) I'll just do that. I watched AC played from beginning to end, liked the story pretty well, but never once felt the urge to pick up the controller to play it. Same for DMC4, though I have played the DMC games off and on, just not all the way through.
I've become far too picky, inorite? I guess I'm looking for a KotOR or ME-esque level of storytelling and I don't think the PS3 has that in a RPG yet. Essentially, I'm looking for my reason to buy the system, as ME and Fable 2 were the reason I ponied up for a 360. Zelda, Monster Hunter Tri (I will fucking KILL Capcom if we never get it), and AC:CF being my reasons for a Wii. I think I should go lurk around RPGamer and see what's upcoming...

Fallout 3 was far too short and glitchy for me to waste $60 on and thats saying a lot for me since I tend to waste a lot of money on gaming. I think its an absolute must to rent. Patch it and drop the price to $30 and then its a must buy.
The PS3 version of Fallout 3 is... horrible, to say the least. Really, it's the worst version, I have no clue why. Bad port, I guess. It has the most glitches, the most lag, and just doesn't really work well.
The Xbox360 version is better, but the PC version is the best(if you have a good computer, that is). It's smoother, runs faster, and in the future, will have a bunch of mods for it adding extra content in.
Also, one last note about FO3: Do not do the main storyline. Really, it's crap. It's short, the story sucks, there is practically no reward for doing it, etc. As soon as you get out the the Vault, forget about it. It's much better to just run around and explore the world and do sidequests.

Really, it's just like pretty much every question about this game that begins with "Why." The answer is "Because."

Maybe you'd be happy with the upcoming PS3 title Heavy Rain?
I own these, but I don't play them as much as I'd like.
Disc:
Oblivion - Haven't played more than an intro, just bought recently.
Lair - Sucks. The controls werent the issue, but the mission objectives are SO VAGUE.
Resistance: FoM - Multiplayer is entertaining for a while, but pretty much a generic FPS (including the aliens!)
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - Fun to play two player but pretty short. If you can play 2 player go for it as its cheap, otherwise skip.
Warhawk - Owned this for a while but only played a small amount, can't comment much on it.
Soul Calibur 4 - I liked SC2, but SC4 isn't that entertaining to me. Then again, I hate fighting games where its like you have to memorize button combinations to win...
PSN:
Pixel Junk Monsters - Fun game, kind of difficult.
FlOw - Boring as hell, I don't know why I even bought it, wish I didn't...
Lemmings - Lemmings! Enough said. If you've never played a Lemmings game before you're in the WRONG.
Calling All Cars - Fun for a little while multiplayer.
Piyotama - Interesting puzzle game, and only costs $3. If you're at all into puzzle games, pick it up.
PS1 downloads (these are the same as the original PS1 games, so won't comment):
Crash Bandicoot
Wild Arms
Assassin's Creed's auto-platforming is nutty fun. Just running around town is fun (even though you don't even really have to think -- just press 2 buttons and hold forward). But making vast cities and hyping the game up as entire cities at your disposal to make use of in planning your assasxxxxtion... yeah, not so much. There's basically 2 methods of performing every assasxxxxtion: sneak in or run in. Regardless, as soon as you kill your dude, even if you're not sighted, you've still sounded the city bells and you have to run for your life. Ya know, I imagine a smooth get away is at least half of an assassin's plan. But that's unrealistically absent from this game. Just 9 assasxxxxtions that play out almost exactly the same.
Drake's Fortune is a surprisingly fun game. The plot is a bit of a campy Indiana Jones kinda thing, but it's very fun. The voice acting is good, the character movements are good, the dialogue is funny, and most importantly: the gameplay is very fun. Though the platforming is very natural and well done, if you don't like platformers... well, it's half the game.

Find and play a stage called Earthmusic. Do it. Do it now! It's easily one of the best stages I have played in LBP to date, including official stages. It's a puzzler/platformer mainly, but done exceptionally well and is definately worth the playing.
Also, there's an Ico stage that's pretty incredible too people should check out.
