    I MM (almost) unconditionally. I actually consider the Zero ending of X-6 to be the end of the series as it's the only one that really ties into the MMZ series (remember, he said he'd need to sleep for at least 100 years to get the virus out, and that he was found underground so it all works out)


    What's wrong with remaking the old games anyway? (in terms of the game itself, not sales etc. Am I really the only one who wants to explore all the old dungeons and boss fights in 1080p with the kind of insane detail MGS4 had?) Just the use of Rush Jet and Rush Marine would make it so worth it.

      It's the execution what counts. Look at GTAIV, no matter how you slice it it's pretty much the same game as III, with better graphics and some upgraded features, but other than that it's still the same game and we love it for that.

      Why can't they do the same with Rockman?

      not everything needs to look new to be fun.

      Going 8-bit is a homage to the old games, and I welcome the style choice.

      if you cant appreciate the style choice of 8-bit, then you are not a true MegaMan fan -.-

        I don't think such trivialities really matter. It's about as silly as telling someone "yeah, yeah, you may be the best Ike player in the US, but you're not as worthy of using him as I am because you've never played Fire Emblem!" Not having played the first games isn't necessarily going to make them less of a Mega Man fan or enjoy the newer games less.

        That's true. Supposedly Inafune had to tweak the plot for MMZ story to account for the fact that Zero wasn't dead though. Probably the reason why they mesh.

          8-bit is where he started, and where 2 of the best MM games exsist (MM2 and MM3) and its where MM9 is going back to.

          The game wont be "crap" or "stupid" its going to be a true MegaMan game

            He didn't say MM9 looked like crap, he said the presentation of the original was underwhelming when you contrast it to Mega Man 2.

                But Kailea, whether MM2 and 3 were some of the "best" Mega Man games is terribly subjective. The early games look, feel, and play differently from the later games. It's perfectly possible - and ok - for someone to dislike the NES games, but really like the SNES games (X series included - X1 was released before MM7) and MM8.

                How can you say what's a "true" Mega Man game? Inafune said Powered Up is how they meant for Mega Man 1 to look like originally. So which one is the true MM1? Even within the NES games, how can you define what's the "true" gameplay? Should MM9 not have charging and sliding because those were implemented later?

                  Well... ok yeah, but my bottom line is, you cant dismiss a game just because of its art style

                  and yeah going 8-bit in this case is an art style choice ;p

                  no many here maybe dismissing the game on that account, but in other places, many are, and all we can do is just play a great game they will miss out on.

                      Awesome stuff. Too bad it seems there won't be any sliding. I can do without buster charging, but I really liked sliding.

                      Also, Inafune must really like water-based, polearm-wielding robot chicks. First Leviathan, now Mermaid Woman.

                            Just because we didn't see it doesn't mean it's not there. It's a direct sequel to 8, so it'd be rather f'ed up if all of a sudden MM lost the Buster.

                              Regardless. I'll be all over this one. Been waiting for years for the ninth installment, and to find out that it'll be hardcore classic is just icing on the 8-bit cake.

                              Honestly, I have to agree; 8-bit is really the only way to do this properly. Of course, it'd be nice if there were a ton of extras besides the game, but the main game is just that more awesome for the way it's being designed.
