Just wanted to note, among other deals, that Amazon is going to be selling MGS: The Essential Collection, for $15 as a black friday deal.

If you haven't yet played Metal Gear Solid, buy this! If you played the original, but haven't played all three, this is a great buy to catch up with the series before you get MGS4.

Edit: Erm I suppose that MGS was not a PS2 game, so what platform would this be for, and is it playable on PS3?

yes, it's a box set which includes the original Metal Gear Solid for playstation (black disks and all), and Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 for PlayStation 2.

According to PlayStation.com , they run fine on the 20/60GB models. The 80GB model seems to have some problems with slowdown on the PS2 versions, but generally speaking as long as you're using more recent firmware it looks like it should be ok.

The MGS Box set is very much worth it.

My only complaint with it is that konami acted like a royal ass fuck and didn't include the extra Content discs for MGS3 which means no remakes of MG1 and 2, or movie viewer and all the other goodies that originally came with MGS3 subsistence.

The second disc of MG3 isn't worth having now. MGO for PS2 died long ago. Anyone that wants to see the bonus movies can YouTube it now and pardon me for saying so, but Metal Gear 1 and 3 didn't age well.

??? You mean MGS1 and 3? Because I was talking about Metal Gear 1 and 2 (there was no Metal Gear 3; Snakes revenge isn't even an official game and was condemned/removed from official canon by Kojima himself. The Real MG2 was never released outside of Japan)
