Remaking by the same team that did FF3 DS.
Been waiting for so long completed the JP version a couple times waiting for this already.

I like the JP version website a lot more than this one tho... simpler and better looking 2D arts.

Kind of a shame though.. they have next-gen looking models for cutscenes. Would be sweet to see it revived on a console.

I am interesting in seeing up close the new visual concepts for the charaters, they made them look more like the artwork.

and I cant wait for hits, have mine preordered and fully paid off, waiting for it for over a year since I heard about it.

PSP would be a waste. If you're going to reinvent something with incredible graphics, you might as well do it on something that doesn't look worse than last-gen. Even Wii would've been a better choice.

They could destroy the charm of FFIV by making a super-realistic next-gen remake.

OR

They can put it in 3D, keep it cutesy and release it on a system that actually sells games.

I think I'll defer to SE's decision on this.

Well BBQ, considering SE's huge losses in NA in 2007, yes, it's not really the smartest choice. They have even hinted at moving away from relying on remakes as a major part of their catalog.

Feba, if this were true, there wouldn't be the flood of SE games there are on the DS now and in the works. Additionally, I'd condier remakes of DQ IV, V and IV as well as FF IV, V and VI to be rather a rather notable section of the catalog. Not to mention DQ IX is also coming out, the first installment of that series to appear on a handheld.

DQ IX being on DS alone kinda shows where SE's priorities lie meanwhile what does PS3 have? Still just the FFXIII games? PSP got remakes of FF, FFII, FFT; the originals being Crisis Core: FFVII and a Valkyrie Profile game. Haven't heard much from SE about PSP since those got out.

The only reason to move away from remakes would probably be because they're almost halfway done cranking out the bulk of them, leaving only the long-speculated FFVII remake.

A couple highlights:

Earlier this week, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada recognized a need for change within his company, saying to Reuters, "We need to go beyond traditional Square Enix."

Square Enix was hit hardest in overseas markets, where sales had slipped 45.7 percent in North America, 41.1 percent in Asia, and 35.3 percent in Europe during the year. That's in sharp opposition to Wada's professed desire to expand its overseas presence to account for 80 percent of the company's sales.

So N64 level 3D is better than the wonderful touch ups of the 2D in FF1 and 2?
