I tried the demo. It's an RPG. With comic book story elements, sort of like the Sly Cooper games, I guess. But also reminiscent of certain older RPGs. I dunno. It wasn't bad, or anything. The world and characters were the best part. The gameplay was merely ok.Comment

While I love Penny Arcade and the graphics made me giggle, the gameplay is meh. Its a very simple game so anyone can play it, even someone that has absolutely no gaming experience. Point and click with occasional timed spacebar/keyboard action. I was hoping for more. Love tossing fruit to distract the enemy. The combat mechanics are pretty simple, but the enemies are designed to milk them for all that they're worth. Of the perhaps 6 attack types that are available to you, you're pretty much guaranteed to run into an enemy that's weak against that type and another that's resistant or immune, forcing you to alter your tactics slightly for each area. There's just exactly enough variety to keep things from getting zzz repetitive for the 5-6 hours of gameplay that're there. It's all real time too, so sometimes you'll be blocking an attack or doing a special with your left hand while selecting your next action with your right.
The real highlights are the art and writing though — no surprise.
I wasn't exactly blown away by value but as a PA fan I was happy with my purchase.Comment
