Just Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...
Re: Just Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...
I've never let out such a big "meh" after being glued to an entire game for weeks. :\

Re: Just Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...
The plot was nothing incredible, but Zelda games really aren't, at least by current standards.
"Be awakened by some *, set out to conquer random evil with the world, collect a few things, get the Master Sword, unleash Ganon, collect some more things, fight him, kill him, yay"
I mean, there are some deviations, but it's not an incredible story in any case. It's a game, and it's very fun, and it's plot shouldn't be taken much more seriously than Mario.
Re: Just Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...
And yet there's so much potential for an epic story to be told...
but 1st I demand 2 things;
1) Full 1080p ub3r graphic whoring for the next title (LLTP remake please?)
2) DECENT VOICE ACTING PLEASE! Is anyone else tired of Nintendo characters just grunting and humming all the time? -. - Prime 3 had some decent VA but of course, surprise surprise Samus didn't say a damned thing. Hell, yoshi can at least Speak his name.

No. It's part of those characters. If Nintendo wants to make new characters talk, great. But don't fucking screw around with Mario, Link, Samus, and the rest. We all have our ideas of what they'd say, do, and sound like; the closest we need to get to seeing them talk is Link's expressions in WW. If Nintendo ever adds voice acting for these characters, they're going to sound just plain wrong to almost everyone.
epic story and Nintendo just dont go hand in hand.
This isn't really true. It's not common, but that's because Nintendo's games are almost all either based on old games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, again), or made as casual games (Mario Party, Touch Generation, Wii Series)
Nintendo has published a few M rated games (Eternal Darkness and Geist on GC, and the upcoming Fatal Frame IV on Wii), although I'm not sure how involved they were, they sound like they have fairly deep plots.
There's also their more RPG flavored games, such as Golden Sun, and Fire Emblem (also possibly the Paper Mario series; the plot might be very predictable, but it's not exactly shallow), although again I'm not sure how involved Nintendo was.
I'll admit most Nintendo games don't have much of a story, but that's because they don't need one, not because they can't make one. It's really just about the game.
Re: Just Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess...
oh im not disagreeing that there arnt good story based or even mature games on the wii~or Nintendo consoles, but alot of them are 3rd party companies.
i enjoyed paper mario for example (the first two more so) but even though they wear rps games, they wear far from epic.games like fire emblem and how could we forget the first handful final fantasy games, are very good games, with very good stories. and there are more esp of the jrpg variety. even resident evil has been on the nintendo consoles lol.
just look at the new game boom blox. it is so simple yet so fun esp when playing it with others. only Nintendo could of made a game like that possible, and it is almost entirely because of the hardware capabilities of the wii (wiimote)
twilight princes is about as epic your going to get story wise, coming from Nintendo itself. 3rd party mostly seems interested in the little party games for the wii though (see wiiware) its a great thing for all those indestudio!!!~
my point was that Nintendo has, in fact, worked on and published games with good stories. They just aren't in the casual gamer/classic series market that Nintendo focuses on, which is why they tend to be ignored.
You already listed fire emblem yourself. That's a nintendo game, buddy.
yes i did, but that is a Japanese franchise. apart from the newest one, i dont think there has been any English release of the games. as for the new one, from what i know it was released in America a year after it was in japan, and has yet to be released in my country. if it wasnt for ssb i doubt it would of been done at all.
i also listed paper mario, as the two games wear made by the same group. they a development group totally separate, from the main "Nintendo" team
that produce most of the franchise games (zelda/mario ect...)
taking about Nintendo japan, and Nintendo rest of the world is two completely different things my friend. esp when compared (not starting a one vs the other thing) to sony, which is also a Japanese comp, where it is a bit more mainstream when it comes to cross country products.
The Wii can only do 480p. I've heard rumours that Nintendo could increase it to 720p with a firmware patch, but I doubt it.
Who said anything about the Wii?

I'm not alone on this one. Quite a few people are fed up of Link just moaning and grunting all the time. VA has been getting fairly good lately (See: Crisis Core and Bleach)

They are still very much Nintendo games, both in Publisher and spirit (proof: inclusion of Fire Emblem characters in Melee, were not considered third party characters)

That's nice. That doesn't change the fact that adding voice acting to such classic games are going to do far more to anger fans than appease them. I mean, NPCs, maybe, but not main characters.

Link should never speak. Everyone else should. They already do.
And I mainly meant the gameplay. The dungeons were among the worst in Zelda history. Completely forgettable.
