  • Legend of Dragoon Online?

Ok, I'm at work and bored and I have a question for the other gamer geeks. My last LS leader quit because of issues etc, but also threw in that part of his reasoning was that he was playing a Legend of Dragoon Online Beta.

In this Beta he mentioned that they were toying with the idea of transferring your character and it's gear over to the new game. Was curious if anyone else had heard about this and whether they would swap their characters over to try it out or not if they did in fact do something similar.

Edit: I know alot of details that he discussed with me, but I'll wait to talk about them to see if anyone is interested / knows more about it.

Yes, if I didn't lose that same data on FFXI.

No, that would cause non-ffxi players to be at a disadvantage.

Yes, I'd love to do that.

No, because it would never happen.

Yes, but only if they made it worthwhile.

    A couple of questions.

Why would your friend think that this would be possible? What would be the benefit of transferring your character to an entirely different game made by an entirely different company? I didn't even know that such a beta existed.

edit: If you mean an SE MMO, then still not likely to happen. This question has been asked here before tho.

That was my reason for asking. He was actually more like the LS lead and not a friend if you get what I mean. Only spoke with him when doing events etc. That and when he quit. He went into a lot of detail that very well could have been bullshit, but was very interesting to think of...

He mentioned that LoDO would have lot's of job classes etc and that killing various dragons would net you new abilites etc. and that transferring your char would net you a character of a similar job to one in FFXI with comparible gear to what you had on you when you transferred.

My thoughts are if SE was willign to partake in a mergence/transferrence it would be interesting to say the least. Not sure if this was more of a slap in the face as in Oh you have that gear here is our version come to our game or a friendly approach.

How would that work anyway? Legend of Dragoon was pretty weak in the fact that it just happened that everyone you ran into was a missing dragoon and everyone else in the world was clueless, it would be really stupid to open that up to a MMO environment.

Ya there is no way a company would do something like this. Hell most of the time they don't even let you keep your beta character over to retail. Sounds like the biggest line of horse manure I've heard in a long time. LOL

As for a LoDO game.....no such thing. I absolutely LOVED LoD and if there were a MMO in beta for it I'd be all over that like stink on s**t. I think the idea was bandied about but never came to fruition.

Yeah I was hoping that wasn't the case cuz I loved LoD and I would play it in a heartbeat if it were to go to MMO style, but I feel about it the way i do a Pokemon MMO. I would play it if it happened, but I don't see the companies putting in the effort.

I got a message from a fellow Gilgameshian saying they saw that old LS leader of mine standing around MH in Aht Urgan so I'll see if it's the same guy or if he sold his account.

I had not seen this online anywhere myself and at work I don't have shit for clearance on where I can go. By the time I'm home I'm playing FFXi and forgetting my woes lol. Just thought some of you guys might know more about it if it was indeed in the works.

Such a transfer sounds insanely arbitrary and impractical. You'll get a "comparable" job and "comparable" gear? Who's going to make those calls, and most importantly, do you realize how long it would take to do that for every player getting their data "transfered?"

Eons, yes lol. But if it had enough backing and enough peeps it could be done. I just doubt the manpower would be there.

                      Re: Legend of Dragoon Online?

Didn't EQ2 have a way of transferring parts of your character?

Anyway, it's entirely possible, but it would pretty much only work if it was FFXIv2, with the same jobs, abilities, spells, missions, and so on. it could also be done in a limited form, I suppose, but that would be up to the company, and doubtless leave people wanting for something or other.

Personally, I'd be happy to transfer Feba to a new SE MMO, if it were any fun. Really, I don't see the point of taking a character to another game just because you can; if it's fun though, I'd like to keep the character.

EQ2 had a legacy system or whatever it was called where you got like a special item or an addition to your name or whatever if you played EQ. It wasn't much of a real benefit.

ah, yeah, that sounds about right.

I could've sworn I've heard of an MMO actually doing character transfers like this before, but I might just be imagining things. I can think of four or five single player gamesthat did that, but that's not really relevant.

Yeah the only single player ones I can think of are Dynasty Warriors and Suikoden. I'm sure I've played others that did, but what ones are you thinking of?

Shenmue (Dreamcast versions onry), I thought KH2 did it but I haven't been able to find any information on that.

Most of those games would be early last gen, though, it was kind of a neat gimmick; I'm not sure of any that have done it recently.
