For those that are wondering, no, there doesn't appear to be any Hot Coffee-style explicit sex in this edition. Though you can get a lap dance, and you do get to make out with your girlfriends (no actual footage, just some suggestive - and hilarious - audio, and a panning shot outside the house).

Thankfully I still have the OSTs I picked up from both MegaTen games. I wasn't *that* crazy when I sold the games. Music in that series is damn good.

Don't get the wrong impression here. I'm not normally a GTA-type game fanatic (see my game collection in the next-gen ownership thread in this forum).

There just happen to be all kinds of strange things to do in this game. Watch TV. Play pool, bowling, or darts. Go on dates. Get drunk (and "attempt" to drive afterwards if you're so inclined).

Sometimes I find myself just wandering in the city just marvelling at how lifelike it really is. People hold conversations, get angry, get into fights, and do all kinds of things to each other. Sometimes you'll see the cops jump into action near you and be like "What did I do?!", and then realize they've gone streaking after someone else who's committed a crime.

I've even seen people get out of their cars after a fender bender and get into shouting matches (and in one case, a deadly fistfight).

Because of such details I would absolutely love for Rockstar to separate themselves from their repertoire and attempt an open world fantasy game in the vein of The Elder Scrolls or something. Unfortunately I don't see it happening any time soon, with their newest IPs consisting of settings like L.A. Noire.

That would be neat; what would be better is if SEGA gave Rockstar the rights to Shenmue. GTA4's living world + Shenmue's FREE system = pure awesome.

You do get a good look (and listen) at the action when you hire the services of a prostitute, and I've heard there's a "Warm Coffee" achievement, which I think is hilarious.

I can barely wait to pick up my copy this afternoon.

You know, I never did get one of the "Too long" endings. Speaking of which, weren't they working on an MMO which was supposed to complete the series (which quite honestly seems even more stupid than the Matrix MMO)?

I'm still hoping for a remake; or even just a straight port; which would contain the entire saga.

There were plans for a Shenmue MMO, by some company Sega outsourced the project to, but Yu Suzuki had still planned to direct. And, yeah, the idea was just as stupid, if not moreso than TMO. MMOs should be a self-contained sort of experience, not an extention of storylines from single-player games. You can get away with that on WoW, its only tied to storylines in part and previous installments were popular for online elements. You can't do that with a popular single player game, that's just jerking your fans around.

One of the cool things about the first two Shenmue games was that there were actually story events on specific days and you had to be there at the right place and right time to do them, which gave it a nice sense of realism and gave the game a more day-to-day human experience. Like it might have been someone's birthday in the cast or you happen upon Nozomi in the playground or something like that.

Reprint, is it Greatest Hits? I had a lapse in sanity one time and sold that game. Altlus reprinting anything for US distribution is almost unheard of!

I must get it back in my collection!

FES is Persona 3 + tweeks + a 30 hour addon to the end of the game. You can even import your save from 3 to FES so if you beat it you can start at the end and just do the 30 hour campaign. (Would be a shame but if you don't have the time to do both its understandable.) FES is ABSOLUTELY worth the price if you've never played Persona 3 and if you are a fan of the series.

I thought they already did release that MMO in Japan. o.o If they dropped it, thank god!

Yeah-- which is one of the reasons I'd like to see it done in a "complete saga" type way, so you have more time to explore various places, screw around, be able to go back to old areas, and so on.
